http://www.tigerdirect.com has the Actiontec pci modem that has support for OS/2 (in addition to DOS, Linux, and a various versions of Win). It is about $60. I ordered it and will be installing it soon (it will replace the generic/store brand modem that I am using now).

The Actiontec is just a generic Lucent WinModem.

February, 2000 edition of OS/2 VOICE, "Success with Actiontec 56K PCI Call Waiting Modem" at the following:

http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0200H/vnewsf3.htm

It's a good review, with this interesting tidbit: "... 3.2 PMFax supports Lucent chipset's voice features ...". Check it out.

I installed it. It was seen/detected by the OS/2 dialer from http://www.attglobal.net and was able to connect to my ATTGlobalNetwork account and check my e-mail. It works great. I did not have to install any special software for it. It still lists it as 'generic' but it seems faster than the external store brand one. I will look to see if it is listed under 'lucent' in the modem list.

Check the "Modem Setting for OS/2 Page" ( http://www3.telus.net/public/bissett1/Modems.html)

If this modem is not listed send an email to doug to add it to the page !!

I did not see it on the list. I will inform them of it.

I changed the modem from 'generic' to 'Lucent' and it still worked with it (my ATTGlobalNetwork connection).

Hi TOMLEEM,

Did you read the review at OS/2 VOICE? IF yes, is the model you bought the same? Please post the URL to Tigerdirect ... I need to upgrade too!

I did not read the review by OS/2 VOICE (at least I don't remember if I did). Above is the url to the site. You can compare the two to see if it is the same.

Hi Tomleem,

It looks like the same modem as in the OS/2 VOICE article. Thanks for the URL>
