Mini-PCI adapters usually found within laptops so you won't be able to use it for desktop system etc. Most new laptops supports mini-pci cards and often if the system has wireless network support it's usually a mini-pci card that is used.

I checked the bottom of my Gateway 200s. There is a panel for the wireless card. When I switch to eCS on it, I might need such a card.

In order to make use of a miniPCI Wi-Fi adapter, you have to be sure the unit is "Wi-Fi ready." This means that besides having the mPCI slot, it also has the diversity antenna in the back of the display panel. You can determine this by opening the mPCI bay on the bottom of the machine, and looking for the two antenna leads (usually one black and one white). Without these, you're better off spending your money on a good PCMCIA adapter (IBM High Rate or Cisco 350).

HTH!!
