Subject  :  How to get Netdrive/Samba plugin to work

Hi all,
I've been trying for the last few hours to try to get netdrive/samba plugin to talk to an NT virtual machine(samantha) running on Serenity Virtual. I know I can talk to the NT share using:
NET USE U: \\SAMANTHA\HOME

This definitely works.

However, using the netdrive/samba combination just gives me a

The volume label in drive H is NETDRIVE.
Directory of H:\

SYS0065: Network access is denied.

The command which I used to try and mount the shared resource is:

nd mount smbfs h:\ ;workgroup=ibmpeers;server=samantha;share=home;user=cytan;password=notreally; w

which then gave the result
[smbfs] resource has been mounted to H:\

But network access is denied when I do a dir h:

Any pointers appreciated.

The 'server' parameter must be IP address of your NT. Also make sure that NT uses netbios over TCP/IP, because the plugin can only work over TCPIP.

Hi sunlover,
I just replaced samantha with its ip address 192.x.x.x and it still gives the same problem. I have netbeui and tcpip enabled in NT networking. Is this what you mean when you said netbios over TCPIP (this is enabled in OS/2).

Hi cytan,

NetBIOS over TCP/IP (also known as tcpbeui) must be enabled on NT.
If this is enabled and the plugin does not work, then I do not know what is wrong,

The mount command is correct, I used the same command for XP and W2K shares here.

How about making sure that smbcd.exe is running, or that it is located in your path so it can be autostarted. The error you recieve will also occur if the samba client isn't running.

I'm an idiot. Should rtfm more carefully than I did. Yes, I did not have smbcd.exe running. Once I had it running in the background, I could connect to my nt virtual machine.

Thanks!
