1. Native Scanner Software for OS2 ?

I'm usually rather slow when it comes to read the included readme files to commercial software. So when reading the readme file that came along with pmFax it mention a couple of different native scanner software for OS2. So I now wonder if the software is still available or if it's dead, if so would there be any reason to contact the vendors to be able to pick and rescue the code? I know that TAME/SANE is available, but it was just a thought. Here is a what the pmFax readme file says (at least within version 3.0 that I use):

SCANNER SUPPORT
---------------

Native OS/2 scanner support software is available from several vendors, and most of the scanner packages can easily be used to scan and fax documents with our fax software. Information on using some of the OS/2 scanner packages with the fax software:

CopyShop/2 (Version 2.0)
[Trafalgar Business Systems 212/673-9000 fax:212/995-2777 CIS:76070,626]
Utility for "scan & fax", "scan & print" and "scan & view" using HP ScanJet scanners. By selecting FxPrint as the printer for CopyShop/2, you get a "single-button" way to scan a document and get the Fax Send dialog. For multi-page faxes, it supports automatic document feeders and, for those without auto feeders, it allows a series of single page scans to be treated as a single fax job. As of August 15, 1996, cost is about $69 and it includes the Danmar SCSIScan drivers which also let you run DOS/Windows scanner programs in Win-OS/2 sessions.

ImageScan/2
[Danmar Systems, Inc., distributed by The Farrel Co. at 919/833-6899]
Utility for "scan & fax", "scan & print" and more from the developers of the SCSIScan drivers. As of January 1997, the cost is $89.95 plus tax/shipping.

Applause (Version 1.1)
[Solution Technology 561/241-3210 fax:561/997-6518]
Image utility for OS/2 - support for HP ScanJet and Logitech scanners. Scanned images can be turned into fax documents by printing to FxPrint, Clipboard cut/paste, or using Applause's Edit/Scale to FAX command and then using File/Save As to produce a DCX-format file which can be read with the fax program's Fax/Open file/DCX command. Contact the company for pricing.

Galleria (Version 2.2)
[Bitware Australia fax:+61-6-2810175 CIS:100033,340 Bitware@ibm.net]
Image utility for OS/2 - support for HP ScanJet scanners. Scanned images can be turned into fax documents by Clipboard cut/paste or printing to FxPrint. Demo available in CompuServe OS2AVEN forum (printing disabled). Price is $65 (US dollars).

UniteLite (Version 1.2)
[Cirrus Technology 301/698-1900 fax:301/698-1909]
Image utility for OS/2 - support for HP ScanJet (IIp, IIcx, IIIp) and Fujitsu (3096G, 3096H, Scan Partner Jr.) scanners. Scanned images can be turned into fax documents by Clipboard cut/paste or printing to FxPrint. Can import the first page from our fax document files using Open/File or Edit/Import commands. List price is $295.

You might want to check out sites like http://www.netlabs.org , http://hobbes.nmsu.edu , http://www.os2bbs.com and other Warp archive sites to see how current those and other scanner software is. I know some are still being developed.
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

Applause (TWAIN) is under development for ECS-Application-Pack (no USB). There is a hook into PMView for TWAIN. CFM 5.2 was the last version we´ve seen 2 or 3 Years ago, also Twain.
Tame is under heavy development close to version 1.0, its based on SANE (with USB for EPSON so far).
In the last year we had a bunch of new scanner-driver for IMPOS/2 (no USB), developed from Compart the Author of IMPOS/2. This is a proprietary solution and only usable in IMPOS/2 but you can controll it through REXX, very good.
