Well, since JMDB came up as the site of the day I thought I would try to install it and see how well it performed. But, rather fast I got problem with the MM MySQL Driver. Installed it what I can figure out would be correct, but then again might not be so. But, what choose what to take the mysql-2.0.13-bin.jar (I've also tried version 2.0.12 and the latest version 2.0.14 with same result) and putting it in $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext. The *.cmd files used to start JMDB has been updated also with the proper version info for the mm mysql as well.

When starting up JMDB I get following errors:

jmdb.database.JDBCAdapter.JDBCAdapter() - Cannot connect to this database: java.sql.SQLException: Invalid authorization specification: Access denied for user: 'jmdbuser@192.168.1.10' (Using password: YES)

java.sql.SQLException: Invalid authorization specification: Access denied for user: 'jmdbuser@192.168.1.10' (Using password: YES)

jmdb.database.JDBCAdapter.JDBCAdapter() - Cannot connect to this database: java.sql.SQLException: Invalid authorization specification: Access denied for user: 'jmdbuser@192.168.1.10' (Using password: YES)

java.sql.SQLException: Invalid authorization specification: Access denied for user: 'jmdbuser@192.168.1.10' (Using password: YES)

To be mentioned is that the users does exist with proper password and access to the mentioned db.

So any one have any ideas what went wrong or suggestions of how to check if the mm_sql installation is valid?

/Kim

Hi Kim!

This seems to be a problem with your MySQL Config!
Something there is wrong!

You can try different logins and passwords in JMDB if you go to the setup screen enter the values (user and password) and then klick on the "Test Connection" Button!
An dialog will show you if the connection could be established.

Okey, the error was in that using 192.168.1.10 instead of localhost or 127.0.0.1. Using either localhost again or 127.0.0.1 the JMDB continue to start up. The reason why I changed the the config to use localhost from the start was that it picked up not only the host name but the entire domain structur. So using 127.0.0.1 was a better solution for me.
Problem now is that now it never comes any futher it just stops with a empty black CLI windows doing nothing

Anything else that might go wrong here?

Found the last little error; I was running pwICQ (v2 beta) and it has some conflict with API giving java application some trouble to start up with GUI.So JMDB now starts up next thing then is to convert and index the list files from imdb.

During the convert of AKA names I got an error:

Converting akanames
Creating table akanames...OK
Converting aka-names...

It stops here with following error:

java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 3

at java.lang.String.substring(String.java(Compiled Code))
at jmdb.database.DataImportType4.getData(DataImportType4.java(Compiled Code))
at jmdb.database.DataBaseConverter2Thread.importData(DataBaseConverter2Thread.java(Compiled Code))
at jmdb.database.DataBaseConverter2Thread.run(DataBaseConverter2Thread.java)

Claims to that the import string is out of range, so I checked the imdb list files and they are okey.

Made another try today and JMDB stops on the same file again. Here is todays error message :

Hi Kim!

I'll check this but I need some infos first!!

1.) How old are your IMDB text files (here only "aka-names.list")? The Data can be found at the top line of each file (if you decompressed it).
2.) Which version of the Java Movie Database do you use?

Sorry it may take some days because I'm currently preparing for some tests!
