There are three free open source games that was listed at http://www.os2.org . They are at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu . I have downloaded them and tried them. They are fun to play. They are Asteroids, Birdman and Mine/2. Asteroids is like the classic game of the same name. Birdman is like an odd version of a 'shooter' where one uses ones mouse to 'shoot' the bird with a mans head. Mine/2 is an OS/2 version of the Windows Mine Sweeper. All are nicely done.
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

yep.

PMEquator is also released as Freeware-openSource (its a educational game)

And possible soon Stris will be released too as OpenSource.

One thing that Im trying to do with the OS2world Gaming site is contacting teh authors of old (and unsupported) OS/2 games and tell them to make them freeware and if they can release the games as OpenSource so other developers can learn from it. For the moment I had luck with this games.

I hope to get more games soon to be released as freeware-OpenSource.

Regards
Martin

Toyland is a game that (IIRC) is no longer supported. It was a nice puzzle game that one can still download from Hobbes but it is only a demo. It would be nice if it was open sourced too.

Tom

It will be great if you can also contact the authors and ask her it a nice way to make their games OpenSource or at least freeware. Try to explain them that is for a good cause and send them a link to the games site os2world.com/games to see that the project is not fiction.

Sometimes the only thing missing is ask for it.

For the moment I had been a little bit busy, but as soon I got time I will get back to start contacting unsupported games authors to try to make them OpenSource.

Good Luck

Martin
