Well, trying to set up a LinkSys WPC-11 v4 card and so far I haven't managed to establish any uplink to the router (to be mentioned is that I verified on a WinXP system that the card works with and without WEP-encryption).

On the OS2 system I've stripped of so only tcp/ip is used and nothing else. The driver is loaded and I've tried out with two version of the driver for LinkSys, the LinkSys WPC-11 V.3 NDIS driver from October 2003 and the Generic PRISM RC4, Linksys WPC11 v3 Beta. Both loads without any problem, but still no link. Also I've set the channel no, SSID, etc within MPTS.

So I'm really open for suggestions here from thoose of you that have tested and currently running with either of the drivers.

Hi,

Are you sure that your pccard socket driver is working correctly as well? I've had a bit of a difficulty finding a good working driver for my TP R40.

Starting to think that the errors might be there; what version are you using?

Well, when using IBM sockets service the system boots up without any problem, etc. Then tried Danielas patched socket service without any luck since it's skipped during boot. But then again the TI4510 chip is not on the list. So my question is now if the APSoft's Socket Services for OS/2 might be a solution?

Well, it seems that APSoft socket service seems to support huge amount of chipsets including the TI4510 used within the Dell Inspiron 8600 that I'm using. For others with the same problem, check following pdf document of supported chipset.

I would also suggest you contact Daniela Engert and ask her about the support in her patched driver for your chipset. I know she uses a Dell laptop, and that's why she patched IBM's driver in the first place. She might still have a newer, unreleased version of her driver available. I know, 'cause she helped me out this way as well for my Thinkpad R40.

I sent here her an email yesterday and as you mentioned, in her readme files she mention that she is using Dell laptops. Lets see what comes out of it.

I got an updated version of ss2ticb that have been updated with a number of chipset including the TI4510. When booting the system the driver loads and halts the system. but the card is now powered so I'm getting a half step closer to the goal. The earlier version of the driver did not load and was just skipped during boot.

Also if there is no nic inserted it boots up without any problem.

Well, played around a bit more, but there isn't much to do regarding parameters when it comes to IBMs socket service. I remark out cardbus tools since it's not needed just to make sure.

BASEDEV=PCMCIA.SYS
BASEDEV=IBM2SS14.SYS
rem BASEDEV=SS2TICB.SYS
BASEDEV=AUTODRV2.SYS
rem DEVICE=C:\TOOLS\CARDBUS\VPCMCIA.SYS
rem DEVICE=C:\TOOLS\CARDBUS\PCMSSDIF.SYS
rem DEVICE=C:\TOOLS\CARDBUS\PCM2SRAM.SYS
rme DEVICE=C:\TOOLS\CARDBUS\FLSH2MTD.SYS
rem DEVICE=C:\TOOLS\CARDBUS\PCM2FLSH.SYS
BASEDEV=PCM2ATA.ADD /S:1 /!DM /NOBEEP
BASEDEV=OS2PCARD.DMD
DEVICE=C:\OS2\$ICPMOS2.SYS /G
DEVICE=C:\IBMCOM\MACS\GENPRISM.OS2

Question regarding parameter /G on the ICPMOS2.SYS what does it do? There is no mention about within the cardbus documentation. I've also tried to change the number of cardbuses from 2 to 1 on PCM2ATA.ADD.

But, so far no difference. If I boot the system without the LinkSys card it loads Danielas driver without any problem. Might be a tiny clue for something wierd..
