"this is the fith time that it happen i work normally with EComstation 1.2 and the desktop will no longer start. I hear after starting that the sound is ok and after that there is an screen loading startup.cmd and then desktop will not appear i can only do restart but the same things happen correct bootup, sound and startup.cmd and no desktop. I use Injoy Firewall Professional and Norman anti/Virus 5.70 and this makes me crazy i can everytime reinstall mine system. I am now writing this in windows but strange is it well."

This is copied from the forum at the eCS site. Since it is not as active as this one, I thought I would post the question here and post any replies there.

Are you able to restore the desktop from the desktop archives, ie booting up with ALT+F1?

1. What are you using for your graphic driver, SDD what? Gengradd? other?

What are you launching from the STARTUP.CMD? Something in it could be causing it. If it something that can be launched from the startup folder, try making a program object of it and sticking it in the Startup folder.

OS/2, and eCS has inherited it have a timing problem with launching programs when the WPS starts. XWP comes with it own startup folder that allows one to adjust the timing of the loading programs.

Or you can try this program which does the same thing. I wish eCS eWPS came with the XWP startup folder, but it does not.

One thing to try right away is to boot to a command prompt and rename the STARTUP.CMD something else. Then reboot and see if the WPS still hangs.
