Hi Everyone,

I have had difficulty in using SAMBA Server and the Client on eCS v2.0 GA.  Does anyone know a a step by step for implementing SAMBA Server and Client from a eCS v2 install?

TIA,
-Todd

Hi Todd!
For a "Quick & Dirty trouble free install"
Click on Local System --> SystemSetup --> Network --> Adapters and Protocols --> Configure MPTS -->  Configure  and delete "IBMOS/2 NETBIOS OVER TCP/IP" Protocol!
Then, Download & install Samba-1-0-4.wpi or Samba-1-0-5.wpi (1-0-5 needs gcc442.dll) from svn.netlabs.org/samba. Then after the install is complete open the Samba Server folder on you're desktop and click on the Simple Samba Configuration Center folder, click on Global and make sure you're Workgroup is named correctly. At this point you are basically up & running. The Client is already installed by eCS 2.0 and is found in the Local Network folder on you're desktop (File and Directory Connections).
http://members.aon.at/herwig.bauernfeind/samba/index.html is pretty much "The Bible" for Samba! Lots of Samba essentials & Information and useful utilities- you'll want to install his "Widgets".
  Hope this helps.

Make sure to avoid the 1.1.0 WPI, it is borked in several ways (the core inside is good, just the installer has flaws). If you want Samba 3.3, install 1.0.5 WPI and use Simple Samba Configuration Centre to update the core from a recent 3.3 ZIP.

As far as I have seen on IRC NNITGuy has difficulties connecting to Samba shares, however there was not enough info even for an educated guess.

I hope to be on IRC today or tomorrow again...

Hi Herwig,

My schedule has been a real pain.  Nothing really getting done in the time slots targeted...

Here I go...  SAMBA Server and EVFSGUI seem to be working as hoped for eCS v2.0 GA for me.  I will drop the details later.

Thank you all who have contributed!

Best regards,
-Todd
