Web news report Nokia is selling QT related commercial licensing and services business, meanwhile keeping qt development as open source project.  Did I understand well? What about? Which future for QT?  Will this concern os/2 world?

Not sure what can happen now. We will need to see how Digia works with the open source community.
I hope that Digia keeps releasing new versions as open source.

If there is going to be an impact I don't think it is going to be in the short term... but we can only speculate until we see some actions.

Hi All

My reading of the report is that Nokia will continue QT development and Digia are handling the commercial side of things:-

“Qt continues to be an important technology for Nokia and it is critical that Qt’s growth and success can continue” Sebastian Nyström, Vice President, Head of MeeGo, Qt and Webkit at Nokia said of the Digia deal. ”While Nokia will continue to invest in developing Qt as a cross-platform framework for mobile, desktop and embedded segments, focusing on open source development and expansion, we wanted a partner who can drive the commercial licensing and services business around Qt.”

Regards
