Hi all,

i like to inform you about some progress i made with ProjectX. Ok ProjectX is not Mpeg2Schnitt but it can do the same and is much easier to port to OS/2.
After some betas and a large time of silence i found a new way of patching the java classes to support large files under OS/2. So there is a new beta, that works in my test better than all versions i made before  Wink

If you are interested, have a look at www.rbri.org.

And of course, your feedback will help to improve the port.

Hi

I had received a bounty claim from RBI for this subject.
He had ported/packaged Project X to run under OS/2-eComStation.

RBi is claiming this bounty since Project X offers a similar functionality to Mpeg2Schnitt.

So, I'm open the discussión for the Bounty claiming, I expecting to hear from the Bounty Sponsors too.

Here it is some information about Project X.

OS/2-eCS Port Page: http://www.rbri.de/projectx/projectx.html

"ProjectX allows you to cut MPEG files (e.g. remove the advertisement). It has has a build-in preview mode of the movie, so it's easy to set the cut marks. It's also possible to save the cut marks into a file and to reload them if needed.

I made a special ProjectX version for OS/2 with support for files > 2g "

ProjectX is open source under the "GNU GPL LIcense"

Hi,

well I know both programs by frequently using them on the "evil" platform.

While I think it is more important to have ProjectX than Mpeg2Schnitt ported (and there's some things I find "sloppy" from usage point of view about M2S anyway) I can't tell if having ported ProjectX is equal to having ported M2S.

Frankly, if the bounty says "...or any program to cut video files", then I would agree to pay the bounty.
If the bounty however says "porting Mpeg2Schnitt or create a similar program", then I woudl say "nope".
M2S has some things that make it superior to ProjectX from a users viewpoint. Let me only mention "setting cutmarks" - that should explain one major difference. Smiley

From a very high-level point of view however, yes - they are similar.
But: I am not a sponsor in this bounty. They must decide.
In case noone of them answers, there is still the bounty committee, right?

Cheers,
Thomas

What is really important?

In this low budget remake of "Mutiny On The Bounty" I have to say that ProjectX does not work with "!!!! Innotek JDK 1.4.2" which "is NOT supported !!!!".

MPEG2Schnitt does not have this limitation and this might invalidate a bounty claim in and of itself.

I, however, have no financial investment in this project and have only my $0.02 to offer.

For those who would spend will determine in the end.

I don't know what Mpeg2schnitt is and haven't sponsored the bounty, but projectx works with java 131.

Sorry Ben,

but this is not the whole story. ProjectX itself has not problem with Innotek JDK 1.4.2. The only thing is that the lage file support is not working because i'm to stupid to get the dll running with it.

So if this is a criterion for you, i can make a version available.

To bad, that i got no feedback about this from you in the past 2 years, so i was not aware that this is an issue for someone.

ProjectX does not work with "!!!! Innotek JDK 1.4.2" which "is NOT supported !!!!".
