OS2 is mentioned within an article about Yorktown resident forges new path for Latinas at IBM: Azua was soon assigned to the OS/2 team in Boca Raton. It was a return to Florida, but the start of her break from her traditional roots. Microsoft's Windows runs more than 90 percent of personal computers today, but in the early 1990s IBM was still fighting for the desktop. Though considered technically superior to Windows in some ways, missteps in marketing and strategy by IBM doomed OS/2 to a footnote in the operating system wars. Without the OS/2 assignment, Azua might not be one of IBM's top executives. Entire article can be found here. Source: The Journal News (0) Comments |
