I found in my collection of hardware a Radeon X800 which was never used. Still in the box. That works nicely in 1920 x 1200.
Now, I would like to install more machines. So any suggestions?
The old hardware, such as your X800 or my X850 TX PE can still be found (old AND brand new) on eBay...so given that these chipsets are literally at the 'top-end' of what was cutting edge and supported by SNAP, why not simply buy the stuff you need and know will work, instead of taking a chance on brand new hardware?
Further on, my suggestion is based on the fact that, at least in my case, the Panorama drivers even for a well known chipset like the X850 are completely un-accelerated. We are talking here molases slow...and for Desktop use, where screen re-draw speed matters (think something as simple as web-browser) I am simply not going to trade the speed of something like SNAP for a VESA/BIOS based display on a new video hardware.
