Today I have added Java program number 100. Its called Groove, its a special program with lots of potential once you know how it works. You can read about it on my English page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e100.htm and I translated it into Dutch (I hope its translated in the right way) http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n100.htm.

Here a compilation of two pictures, above the steps the program makes to solve the problem of the ferryman. At the bottom the graphic representation of the wolf, the goat and the cabbage. The ferryman can only transport one item each time. The wolf will eat the goat  and the goat will eat the cabbage if the ferryman is not there to keep both separated. All three need to be transported to the other side. This program gives you the tools for solving the problem. But once you understand it you can put in much more complex problems and see what happens. In the end you can make the right choices.

As always, is this a program for education, for office or for development?  For now its placed in education.
Have fun!

I have added a new program to the list of Java programs. It has to do with sports. With SportsTracker you can monitor your results. More on my homepage http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e102.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n102.htm. For the record, it did start up in my language Dutch without making any settings. I think it will start up in English if you have an English or US setup.

On screen it looks like this;

Have fun!

FWIW - I started looking to see if I could build openjdk locally. Partly to see if it would build with GCC 6.2.0; but partly to start to look at how difficult it would be to update our JDK to the latest v6 build; then depending how that went, to see how much changed with openjdk7.

Unfortunately, my build got stick fairly early on with an error compiling some java code with javac. I'll try get back onto this when I stop being so distracted with Samba :)

The program IconEdit on my homepage is no longer available from the original site, they stopped!. No worries here, I have set the program on own space (ouch!), so you can still download and use it.
You can find the program here http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e28.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n28.htm.

I have updated my page about JSoko. You can find it here http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e98.htm or in Dutch language http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n98.htm. The last version JSoko_1.75_no_installer.zip needs a higher version of Java. Wrote about it to developer Matthias, lets await his answer.

Hello Joop,
First of all thanks for your mails with the java programs, of course I have installed and running some of them.
But when I've seen the Jsoko, and I've gone to download it I've seen 62Mb.zip, and out of curiosity I have the Trashman from Carol Soft, which is the same game for OS/2, and occupies 120K unzipped. Only is 607 more times size.
Long live the progress !!!
