I have updated BlueJ on my homepage. Here is the link to my page; http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e43.htm

This is a screen capture of the program. just compiled the program "Hello world".

Its still working with Java 6, they repeat that this is the last version that will work with Java 6...
Where did I hear something like it? ;-)

I have updated my page Disapproved Java programs file:///O:/homepage/os2ecs/ecs6e47.htm.
Added new programs which aren't working properly or aren't working at all. Some programs do work with older versions, but some of them are too far behind for whats going on today.

I have sent a mail to the eclipse webmaster,  wanted to ask a simple question, had to register for the forum, next I get some kind of agreement. I didn't agree with it because I don't have Eclipse running and second shrink wrapped licenses are not legal in my country. But I want to ask my simple question in the forum. So lets see with what answer they come up with, guess something like "no".  That would be too bad, because as far as I can see it there are only two programs which are or an executable or a dll file. Most of it is just Java.

I have added a new Java program on my homepage for OS/2-eCS. Its called Geometria and you can find more on my page: http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e69.htm.

The message in software news of an updated Geometria version 4.0 on Monday, 13 June 2016 is not an update of version 3.2 but a total new approach. What Windows and Linux users get, and eComStation users don't, is a tiny web server that runs on your desktop with a simple double-click. This is the rest of the answer of the developer of Geometria;
I would suggest to connect your eComStation computers to a PHP-enabled web server, such as Apache. The server does not need to be eComStation, it can be a Linux server. If that is not possible, perhaps this site <http://www.amp4ecs.de/> can be of help. However, if you do find a way to connect your people to a web server, please proceed as follows:

  * Download the server package from http://geocentral.net/geometria/download
  * Unzip and copy to the web server's web documents directory.
  * Connect your user computers to http://your.server.name/geometria/index.html

Your users will be able to do everything except save problems and solutions back to the server. However, there is a way to let them do that: change readOnly from true to false in the geometria.php file. The application running on the official Geometria web site is just Apache+PHP with readOnly=true. If you do decide to let your users save their work back to the server, I would advise to have a separate folder under the root 'all' node in the document navigator, for each user. If the number of the users is large, you may want to consider other options, which will require some work on the geometria.php file.

So there is a way out, but I read it not as easy and certainly not stand alone. May be I'm wrong, but the way you can run version 3.2 is definite totally different then for version 4.0.

Have fun!

I have added a new Java program to my homepage, you can find it here: http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e70.htm

Its a simulator of electronic logic circuits.

The author has changed job and stopped with development because he needs the time for his paid job. The source is available. There are no bugs in the bug tracker. Help and documentation works.

Have fun!

I have added again a new Java program. Its a game this time, a classic. You can find it on my homepage on this page: http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e71.htm.

To give some idea;

Its still a beta, so there are sometimes some issues. Help is not working, can't find the browser. But there is source in the distribution.

Have fun!

By accident I saw this program, I think its fun to explore the Mars Simulation Project. So I did run it on my system and you can find my page here: http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e72.htm

The program eats your clock tics, on my single core machine the processor usage shoots to the roof. So when you don't have a multicore system it might be wise to set the clock in pause mode. After that you can browse easily through the program, only nobody is doing anything. All is on hold ;-).
I placed it under "Games", its always difficult to classify a program, may be "Educational Programs" is better, don't know.
Any way, have fun with this program!

I have updated my page Disapproved Java programs file:///O:/homepage/os2ecs/ecs6e47.htm.
Added new programs which aren't working properly because its compiled for the other Java system.
There is also no way in recompiling it, the programs are compiled with Eclipse.

I added a new office program to the list of Java programs. You can find it on this page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e74.htm.

It is a pdf viewer this time, it looks like this;

I have also upgraded some pages with errors in text. I did edited them too quickly with as result text from other programs on the page.
I have also updated my page with disapproved Java programs http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e47.htm

Have fun!

I regularly write about Java programs in the English language, but there is also the same thing in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n.htm. Only the Dutch part was a little behind, as much as more than 50 programs behind. Today that's history, I updated the pages, both are now at same level. The page with disapproved programs is in Dutch half Dutch, half English. Still busy with that page, but translating is sometimes not easy and Google translate of no help at all. So that one still take some time.

I have added a new page to my homepage with Java applications for our solution with Java. The English page can be found here http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e75.htm and the Dutch page can be found here http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n75.htm. Its jEdit version 4.5.2, I had the program for a long time under test because the next version was stripped from OS/2 code. The version after that version had a partly rebuild with OS/2 code because I complained. But its still wrong, so the new versions of jEdit has to be build again with proper OS/2 code. The thing I never understood was that they could easily take an old version and strip it from there. So the present version is the last version which works.

Today I added another program to my homepage. This is the English version http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e76.htm and this is the Dutch version http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6n76.htm. This program also works with Java 1.4.2 and has no trouble with our latest version Java 6. This is how it looks like;

Okay, that's it for today. I like to hear any suggestions for a search. However, I have seen some very nice programs, but they all need Java 7 or 8. And we are still waiting on that one. I had hoped for an equal "drive" as seen with QT, but this seems not true.

Joop,

There is a newer version 5.1 fixed for OS/2 and I think it's on Hobbes (or do a search of this forum).

Cheers

Tried that one, fix for OS/2 is incomplete. If you tag a directory it will go on in that directory with that directory until you run out of environment space, which is huge in OS/2. So you get directory1/directory1/directory1... until memory is up and you can't reach the tail anymore with you mouse or something.
Version 5.2 and up is for Java 7. Version 5.0 is the screwed up version in which they deleted the OS/2 code. So version 4.5.2 is the last version for OS/2 which works and can run in Java 6.
