Some nice pictures there, Tommy. Really. I'll add them to my collection.

However... you might decide to reconsider it as a mascot since the Phoenix represents Lucifer.

 :o ???

Heheh.

Perhaps a bit more research should be considered. Though, like I said; "nice pictures"!

Whales have a very high, favourable, marketing response.

If you want, big, passive, safe, secure, slow-moving, powerful force, nothing can deliver it so well! The fact that it is a beluga, only adds to this.

With the trend in todays OS's and marketing strategies in general, (Kijiji, Ubuntu, panda's and penguins), it would be perfectly in line.

Really, one needs to make a list of what they want the image to represent. That way submitters can focus their submissions.

For example, if you like the whale as a base, but require an air of sophistication, then adding a top hat and straight cane, capped at both ends would do this.

It is easily added and instantly recognizable by even the most simple of minds... which marketing must always target if mass coverage is to be effective.

This is why base symbolism is simple. Logos are merely a specified aspect of the same thing.

I have read that the phoenix was brought about by flamingos that fly toward the middle of an acidic lake. When the baby flamingos come away from the middle of the lake to the shore, it seems that they are 'reborn by fire'.

I did not know about the link between the phoenix and lucifer. I learned something new. Thanks.

I like the idea of the beluga whale. It has a smile on its face.  8)

'This marine mammal is commonly referred to simply as the melonhead, beluga or sea canary due to its high-pitched twitter'.  8)

My canidate for ecs mascot

The Humming Bird:  Small,  (Small foot print of ECS)
                                Fast
                                Powerful
An object of beauty (if an os can
be refered to as a thing of beauty)
Seems to fit nicely

No problem.

For every piece of real knowledge on this earth there is a nice, warm, cover story, prechewed and regurgitated, then given to the masses that will readily accept it.

The Phoenix is symbolic of Lucifer being thrown down from heaven to earth, (hell), and then he rises up from his own ashes in glorious flames, (which represents his spirit... being the most brilliant of all the angels), to take the place of God as ruler. Of course, he is thrown back down and it all begins again.

The Phoenix is allegory for Lucifer in the same way that Prometheus and Icarus are, all of whom are all regarded as the Light Bringer... another name for Lucifer.

If you are interested, look up the Wikipedia stories on them. Note how similar they are and compare them to the Fall of Lucifer. They are one and the same... and also note how Wikipedia leaves out the important bits.

Probably a bit more than you wanted to know, but there you are and now you have it!  ;)

Stand erect! when you say that, boy!

 :o

Like the sperm whale that phoned up his girlfriend and asked "Can I cum over?"

 ::)

So... do sperm whales bite the tops off of submarines and suck out the seamen?

I don't get it?

 ???

It is a penetrating subject though it can be rather slippery to hold onto at times.
 8)

Limp jokes you say?

Well then, I guess it's all over.

I like the idea of the hummingbird but I think it is already taken KolibriOS.

Well, a cat has nine lives and in some respect, it has a connection to OS/2, but by a similar measurement it has an connection with the Phoenix; rebirth. Though eComstation is not a true rebirth of OS/2, rather, a rebranding with some upgrades or another stage of development.

With that in mind, a multi-staged rocket might work, one stage falling away and shown clearly, yet the rocket itself, still being on course, aiming high and yet, still vigorous!

Rockets also represent a level of technology.

The falling stage would have OS/2 marked on it but the rocket itself would have eComstation emblazoned on the side as it is still full of life and going on into the foreseeable future as it heads for the eComstation in the stars... like the Enterprise heading for a stardock or a spacestation.

I don't really know why the second voted option is a Butterfly :)

Will it be that eComStation used to came with that video of butterflies turning into the eCS logo?
