I had the setcopyfromfloppy flag set already as the instructions had me do that for the scsi cdrom driver.... so
that wasn't the problem.
I'm not worried about that now... I just decided to do the install on the 2gb machine instead.
Things that need fixing now: (so far)
1) Is there a fix for the ess 1887 driver so it doesn't trap D (besides backing out to before fp13?)
Try UniAudio - I'm using an older version on one of my machines that has a similar chipset without issue (machine is running WSeB CP2).
2) Is there a way to make os/2 warp actually shut off the machine when I shut down?
xWorkPlace and it's extended shutdown routines (once you install xWP, you need to enable the extended shutdown features). There's also an extended shutdown utility on Hobbes someplace (sorry I dont recall it's name). Let me know if you dont get either to work or cant find them. They work on some/most of the systems I have.
3) What level of java can I install on here? I tried the innotek 1.42 from os2site.com, but it complains about not having an innotek driver installed.
IBM Java (v1.31), or install the Innotek Runtime.
More information on Java stuff (some outdated), can be found here:

http://www.os2site.com/sw/dev/InnoTek/index.html4) when connected via pcmcia lan card to the internet... web explorer works, but firefox doesn't actually seem to attempt to go to url's I type in.
That's baffling. Have you checked the network settings in Firefox to ensure they are not set to some proxy configuration? Also, try accessing a website via it's IP address. A safe one would be Google. From a command prompt, do "host
www.google.com" and then try that IP address in Firefox.
If none of that work, then please go into more detail about what Firefox is (or is not) doing. Is it failing on the "resolving host" portion? On the "connecting..."? Sitting on "waiting for..."? or where/how?
