Hi David!
Hi,
There are a few desktop features I miss from the windows world [although overall very happy to be in the ECS world primarily

]. I was just wondering if it is possible to recreate them at all:
(1) New windows versions have on the quicklaunch bar a "Show Desktop" icon that if you click minimizes all open windows and gives you instant access to the desktop. I find this saves me much time when working.
Look on this page:
http://www.os2usr.org/xcenter/You'll find the HBShowDesktop widget that does what you want.
(2) On windows I have a third party program that gives me "tabs" somewhat similiar to the ecenter trays. I was wondering however with the ecenter trays, is it possible to make the text/title of each icon appear under the icons? I find it hard to see the differences between the small icons on the tray - but haven't found a way
Don't think so. It could be a good idea for a future XWP enhancement though... provided there is someone to code it ;-)
You may also like the launchpad. Or its derivative: PianoPad. I like this last one very much (but it's not free).
The other thing I would really like is if I could make it so tray menus open up on mouse rollover instead of having to click them for the menu lists to open up. It's a minor thing, but still a little hard to get used to.
I'm not sure I understand here. What do you mean by "mouse rollover" ? Would you want to switch among trays by using the mouse wheel? This too would be a good idea for an enhancement in XWP. I don't think it can be done presently.
Bye
Cris
