Hi Sigurd.

Great video.

I have a question right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2Aa_34MK-QU#t=632

On that 3-4 seconds when you move your finger and click the "OS/2 System" icon, it looks like the a second cursor (?) is moving like 3cm below your finger, like if it is following with your finger (even when it is not touching the screen). Does it work that way? or do I need glasses? :)

Hi Martin,

no, no glasses  ;)  . The mouse pointer does follow even if your finger is not directly on the screen, I do not know how far it can be away from the screen that it still works, some milimeter I would guess. But for "clicking" you need to touch the screen. During the video I sometimes use the mouse in addition to the finger as the "Right Mouse Click" (First one finger, hold, add second finger) unfortunately does not work that good with Hoppla (I have to investigate more once I have more time and talk to Wim Brul if he might see a way to improve).

Something I can not stress or emphazise enough the great work Wim Brul is doing here. Not only the drivers but also his patience, quick and thoughtfull replies and so on! Without him there will be no such things.

If one like to have Finger and Touch support I would allways suggest to have (for now  ;)  ) the Samsung Series 7 Slate. The X230T has Finger and Touch support as well, but here you can "only" have one of it at the same time where the Samsung Serie 7 works simultaniously, even in additon with a mouse so you do have three (!) input devices if you like.

I am still dreaming of the "One for all" (what will probably never even happen) Hardware device to come - I do have some hope the Lenovo Helix 2 might be one of this kind - ( Tablett, Laptop ) and then run OS/2 on it, with Touch, Stylus, Trackpoint and so on...

But I will wait untill the first tests with this device have passed and see if this might be worth a try. I already asked someone who tested this if Secure Boot can be disabled, and Yes  ;)  http://thinkpad-forum.de/threads/179028-Thinkpad-Helix-2?p=1844338&highlight=Helix#post1844338  In addition the price seems to be ridicoulus high to me.

I do have still hope that as long as a Windows 7 "Downgrade" is offered with the Hardware I am looking it, there will be the chance to install OS/2 as well, allways via cloning. But who knows..  ::)

Hi Sigurd.

About the Samsung Series 7 Slate, can you check the HardwareID and other information about the touch screen? is it connected internally like an USB device? Sorry, I don't have a touch screen, so I know nothing about them.

Maybe you can post some information (included hardwareID) of both Touch Screens, the one of the Lenovo and the one on the Samsung just to have some references.

Hello Martin,

You will find all the hardwarestrings regarding this on Wims Homepage, i.e. for the Samsung Slate look here:

http://home.hccnet.nl/w.m.brul/SamSung7/index.html

This is the string (=Hardware ID) for the Touch Interface there: 03EB:211C:11AB

It is connected via USB.

I think I'm getting outdated. Which is the third one for used by USBECD?
03EB (Vendor ID) :211C (DeviceID) :11AB (???)

For what I can search online 03EB:211C  is the Atmel Corp. maXTouch Digitizer.

Can you tell me which is the HardwareID of the other two touch screens you tested?

Sorry, the last four numbers are the "Revision" of the hardware, if I remeber correctly.

For the X230t the touch is:  056A:00E6 -> so something like this: Wacom ISDv4 E6
For the Sony Vaio Pro 13 it is: 0EEF:A108 -> eGalaxTouch EXC7910-1031-12.00.03

Great Stuff Sigurd! I'm almost tempted to high-jack my wifes Thinkpad Yoga to try out the tocuh screen together with OS2.
