The only good things was that this vulnerabilities was found by researchers and not lost in the wild. Even that machines with UEFI BIOS may be the

present, I really don't find the benefit of UEFI compared to the old one. I have some machines with UEFI and you only get into the BIOS when you get into trouble. As a difference with the old one, it has some nice things that I just don't use. Does it make it easy for driver developers? or make it easier for the OS to interact with hardware?

IMHO it was marketing. Twice upon a time, someone's wanted to switch users from WinXP to Win7.
