If I don't get it wrong Piding uses the GTK+ libraries.

It will be good to also start in the GTK+ OS2-eCS port.

I guess it basically amounts to this: Is the community ready to pay another 10000 to 15000 Euros for a port of the GTK? It would definitely be great to have as it is the base for another plethora of applications like Pidgin, GIMP, GNU Cash, Avidemux, XSane, etc. However, collecting the money for the Qt 4 port wasn't exactly easy, so I have my doubts.

Having GTK would be very nice for building apps.
As far as Pidgin itself, Marty is building DrMessage which uses libpurple (that Pidgin and Finch use) but is building the Gui as native OS/2.

I cannot resist to mention here, that having wxWidgets fully ported would make building apps with a native OS/2 gui muuuuuuuch faster. Why am I writing this? Ofcourse, in hope that some people will help finish the wxWidgets port Smiley

Yeah, Marty has some pretty cool things planned for the GUI so keep an eye out Smiley

I'll see if I can't keep some constructive encouragement on him as well. I've also got some ideas that we're throwing around too.

I'm decently impressed with wxWidgets and GTK... but OTOH, if Marty can harness the abilities of WPS, I'm even happier with what he'll be able to do leaving it as a native WPS application.
