The problem is that our scheduler doesn't know about hyper-threading where the threads need to be kept on the same core.

Hi

I just updated the OS2World Wiki with the information on this thread:
http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Laptop_Computers

Please remember that everybody can access and edit the wiki (and is also welcome to help) with the same userid and password that is used on OS2world.

Regards

You got a lot of stuff wrong about the computer, but you misspelled my name too. Fortunately, you are right that we can all edit.

Yes, that is the idea of a Wiki, editing it... thanks.

I saw some many people that says "If it is not perfect, I'm not going to publish it". The opposite thing happens on a Wiki, it is content that is going to be improved over time, so the first post does not needs to be perfect.

Today I received an HP EliteBook 8540w, second-hand, with i7 processor, along with new ACPI Arcanoae. After a few hours of use, it shows me 8 processors, oddball stable. The wifi does not work, the network if it works and does not work HD sound.

Summarizing the first impressions:
The new ACPI ver3.23.01, works perfect, a maximum resolution of 1280x800 monitor with panorama with beta2 ecs22.
Only at first the mouse on the websites, to an annoying flicker that has been removed and not know why.
The wifi I can not start it, although I have seen various web sites
http://ru.ecomstation.ru/projects/genmac/?action=unsupported
and the links on this page. I guess I need a file NETwNs32.reg.
but I am not clear how to create it.
The sound not sounds, but catches my attention that when you start the airboot, a blue light indicating a speaker at startup that light turns orange indicates banned or off, and when I turn off the system, turn it on again and it makes some noises from the speakers, seconds after it is turned off.
saludos

Hi Roberto.

I just created this pages on the wiki:
http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/EliteBook_8540w

It can be great if you can add more information about the devices that the computer has and the HardwareIDs.

Thanks Martin, I edit soon with some minor modifications.
But I wanted to report a bug in NAPS.exe, it is the new MPTS, if all network adapters are erased, then you can not add new ones. With an error in protocol.ini

I don't know what the PCI IDs are for those. Run C:\ecs\install\DETECTEI\PCI.EXE and see what it says (or post it). Then, check at ftp://genmac@ftp.os2voice.org/ to see if they are already supported, if not, let me know, and I can build a driver (no guarantees that it will work though). Check GENMU_INTEL_WIFI_README.TXT first, and if it isn't in there, try GENMU_TEST_README.TXT. The difference is that the TEST package has a number of drivers that were built, but nobody reported whether they worked, or not. The third package has drivers that were reported to work, for other manufacturers.

The latest problem (for a few years now) seems to be that the radio is controlled by ACPI, and we have no tool to be able to turn it on.

Hopefully, the WiFi project at Arca Noae will be ready soon, but all I have heard is that they are working on it.

Sorry, i should have told you to use your e-mail address as a password.

That is for another site, Try the password "unsupported". Lower case, and no quotes.

Okay, PCI says the 6200 is an 8086:4329. That was not in the available devices, so I took a guess and added it to GenMU_TEST-0-4-5.wpi. Intel seems to be pretty consistent in their drivers, so that will probably work, IF you can get the radio to turn on. I suspect that you won't be able to do that.

You need to install using the WarpIn installer, which makes the proper files available, THEN you need to use (Network) Adapters and Protocols to configure it properly.

I don't see the 6300 in the file...

Good luck...

Hi

I just updated the OS2World Wiki with the information on this thread:
http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Laptop_Computers

I also tried eComStation on a Thinkpad L420. Compatibility was good, it booted, worked, the strong issues were Wifi and Audio.
Here is what I wrote about it: http://www.os2world.com/wiki/index.php/ThinkPad_L420

I thought that it will be good to also list the "HardwareID" and the driver that works on a table, so the content can also be found when someone looks for the hardwareID of a device and finds out that it works on some computer.

Please remember that everybody can access and edit the wiki (and is also welcome to help) with the same userid and password that is used on OS2world.

Regards
Some infos about x220i updated.

Bad news, is not working.
In the sample below Genmac boot ... green:
NO VALID HARDWARE-INFO IN PROTOCOL.INI FOR WRND32 $

In lantran.log:
IBM OS/2 LANMSGDD [05/21/04] 6.00 is loaded and operational.
IBM OS/2 TCPBEUI 6.00.0
TCPBEUI: Using a 32-bit data segment.
IBM OS/2 NETBIOS 4.0
Adapter 1 has 223 NCBs, 130 sessions, and 20 names available to NETBIOS applications.
NETBIOS 4.0 is loaded and operational.
IBM LANVDD is loaded and operational.
IBM OS/2 LAN Netbind
PRO0025: An error occurred when the program tried to bind TCPIP_NIF to W8086X4239_nif.
TCPBEUI: Logical adapter 1 is trying to bind to TCP/IP interface lan0.
LT00141: Errors occurred while attempting to initialize TCPBEUI.

In scanx:
[C:\ecs\system\genmac\bin]scanx
DosOpen WRND32$ failed with error 110 at 304
Exiting with rc 110

Modified, the file protocol.ini, debug = ALL.
And create a cmd with type wrnddb$ >genmac.log that include in the startup folder,
but not give me any info.

saludos

I have installed windows 7 32 bits, in the same pc, and I got some information from which the attached file. Here you can see how w7, plays this card as N 6300
