Venturing into the loft I couldn't help wondering if my old IBM PS/2 Model 95 would start up. It hasn't been switched on for 10 years, but I have WSeB installed on it and used to use it as a RIPL server so I wanted to know if it still worked. Unfortunately there were startup errors which needed a Reference diskette, which I found but it couldn't be read, so I'm trying to create a new one, but all the old IBM files have either been deleted or moved elsewhere. Anyone know where to look?

You need to visit http://ohlandl.ipv7.net/ (http://ohlandl.ipv7.net/) (9595 - Ardent Tool of Capitalism)
Post if you get ArcaOS running on it.

The ipv7.net site is an old mirror of the Ardent Tool. Louis keeps the most up to date version on Kevin Bowling's server at http://ps-2.kev009.com/ohlandl/
There are four different types of processor complexes used in the PS/2 95 and each uses a specific Reference Disk. The complexes can be identified on this page
as well as the Reference/Diag Disks download files: http://ps-2.kev009.com/ohlandl/complexes/Complex_ID.html
Make sure to replace the CR2032 CMOS battery as low voltage has been known to cause erroneous memory errors and other hardware oddities
on PS/2 90/95 machines.
The comp.sys.ibm.ps2.hardware Usenet newsgroup is still up and running after all these years and always a good place for IBM PS/2 related information and
questions.

I spent most of yesterday trying to bring get the beast back to life. First find a working floppy drive, then a diskette which hasn't gone bad, then find where to download the reference diskette img, then find a way of creating a diskette. Then wonder which of the four images is the one I want. Eventually after trying all four, the same msg kept coming up 'This diskette does not work with this complex, the system is locked :(((

I used to participate there quite a bit, but haven't used any of my PS/2 in 10 years.
Guess I'll try changing the battery as a first step, if I can find it.

CMOS battery is on the planar behind the power supply. The PSU has a blue twist knob that you unscrew and tilt the PSU down. Then the battery
and memory SIMM connectors should be visible.
What is the model number of the PS/2 95? It should be under the power button. Can you post a picture of the processor complex?

I'm away at the moment, but will do so on my return.
