Setup & Installation / Re: DB2 v. 6.1 / Java
« on: February 23, 2024, 05:08:34 pm »
Well, I downloaded and installed 1.1.8 and DB2 Control Center works.
Problem now is that DB2 Administration Server will not start, SQLSTATE=57019.

Alex, you're right, the runtime was already installed in x:\OS2\JRE\Java11  ???

Neil, when trying to create a database I can select "local" and it is not asking for any protocol.
(Since the Adm Server won't start I'm unable to complete the steps for creating a new database,
will keep File and Print in mind.)

Thanks, Ivan, but I just got Java 1.4.2 installed.
No success with db2cc.cmd;

/* JRE [options] CC "[-h {location of db2jd}] [db2jd port number]" */
'jre -mx128m -cp 'db2path'\cc;'db2path'\cc\db2cc.jar;'db2path'\java\swingall.jar;'db2path'\java\db2java.zip;'db2path'\cc\db2plug.zip CC -nojit "6790 %1"'

I've replaced "jre" in the above cmd with "java" and get some "NullPointerError"
Wonder if I have to try with an even older java version, like 1.1.8?

Thoughts are welcome.

Setup & Installation / DB2 v. 6.1 / Java

It seems like DB2 requires an older Java version than the OpenJDK that comes with ArcaOS.
The DB2 java apps works with jre.exe and not java.exe.
Tried to install Java 1.4 but got some error.

Is there a work around to make DB2 work with OpenJDK, or any other solution?

Programming / Re: SQL running total
« on: February 19, 2024, 08:00:28 pm »
Thanks Roberto, but unfortunately it returns no values.
The query I mentioned earlier is run from VX-Rexx and Intersolv 2.11, can't make it work with DBExpert.
I'm trying to create a column that holds the sequence numbers for the records, like the image below:

Programming / Re: SQL running total

Some more testing ....

select a.rowid, a.accno, a.bkgdate, a.amount, (select sum(b.amount) from finance b where b.rowid <= a.rowid and a.accno = b.accno group by b.accno) from finance a order by a.accno

However, I also need "order by BKGDATE" but that will change the running total column and make it useless.

Have an idea about running an update query with the necessary "group by" and "order by" and that it inserts record number,
incremented by 1. in a new column.
Ideas anoyone?

No, you're not.
I'm using it for both personal and business, and if we had a working browser and odbc (dBase) driver it would be nearly perfect.

Not at my system right now, but found this:

If you're able to edit config.sys you could have chkdsk running on the next boot.
The following is from the IBM help-file:

-----
 IFS Command: /AUTOCHECK Parameter

Specifies the drives that the operating system checks at startup time to determine if the file system associated with a drive is in an inconsistent state. A file system could be in an inconsistent state when files were left open. This can happen when:

The computer was turned off without selecting the Shut down choice from the menu of the desktop.

Electrical power to the computer was interrupted.

The OS/2 operating system runs the CHKDSK program with the /F option to correct any problem caused by improper system shutdown. Each time you format a drive for the High Performance File System, the operating system updates the IFS statement in the CONFIG.SYS file with the appropriate AUTOCHECK parameter.

If you place a plus sign (+) in front of any drive letter, the drive will be checked every time the system is started.

Assume the following statement appears in the CONFIG.SYS file:

IFS=C:\OS2\HPFS.IFS /C:64 /AUTOCHECK:D+EF

Each time it starts, the operating system checks drives D, E, and F. If necessary, it runs the CHKDSK program on drives D and F. CHKDSK will always be run on drive E.

To me it looks like it runs a single win-program, Firefox, on the OS/2 desktop.

Setup & Installation / Re: AOO4.11.1/Firefox/Seamonkey trouble

Somewhat embarrassing, but ..... I installed AOO from a directory with lots of zip and wpi files and the installation program found the file AOO-41110-GA-rpm.wpi which resulted in downgrading lots of dll's in usr\lib.  Used ANPM to update the libs mentioned in the readme.txt and the errors seem to be gone.

I always get the errors when opening existing files.

Creating and saving a new spreadsheet works but reopening the new file generates the error "Not all attributes could be read".

Opening a text documents gives "General error". Creating a new text document and trying to save it also results in "General error",
still the document is saved and I can reopen it but get the general error.
