Hi Andrew,

It sounds as if you need something like File Freedom which does things like deleting individual files to complete directories, setting or changing file attributes and other useful things

Available on Hobbes as FileFreedom_2-02.zip

 A list of features is here:

            * Configurable Timers to allow automatic refresh of Drive Table and File Folders
            * Append text files to a master file.
            * Pop-up Menu
            * Dynamic display and writing of Volume Labels.
            * Create directories 'on the fly' with copy/move operations
            * Copy or Delete complete directory trees that contain files/sub-directories
            * Tree size in bytes at the press of a button
            * Auto-Scroll while selecting files with mouse
            * Create Desktop Objects from program files with single keystroke
            * Directory Bookmarks for quick access to frequently used directories.
            * Sliding windows
            * Toolbar - Verical/Horizontal/Hide
            * Dynamic Pushbutton descriptions on status bar
            * Pushbutton support for search tool (PMSeek or User-Defined)
            * Unlimited Third-Party Viewer support
            * Support for eight User-Defined programs - OS/2-Windows-Dos
            * Support for Rexx scripts with Viewers and User programs
            * File Filters
            * Four different file views including detailed
            * Sort files by Age, Name, Date or Extension in Ascending or Decending order
            * Drag and drop colors and fonts
            * a Pushbutton for your favorite Editor - OS/2-Windows-Dos
            * Hot-Keys (Accelerator Keys)
            * Drag and Drop file management and a fast native alternative
            * Menu bar
            * Dynamic display of Total Files and Bytes Selected,
              Total Bytes Free on Source and Destination, File count
            * An internal Settings Notebook for configurable options
            * Context Sensitive Help
            * Integrated support for Info-Zip's Zip and Unzip utilities
            * One button Zipping of Files, Directory Trees and Drives
            * One button Unzipping
            * Unzip to New Directory created automatically with same name as zip
            * Built in Zip Viewer
            * even more

The one thing that might be a problem is that it doesn't show file sizes if they are bigger than 2tb.

My answer to the problem, since I will not run a browser without NoScript addon, is to have a second monitor connected to one of my Linux computers and run firefox esr on that.

Nearly 30 years ago when I was doing business in Spain I had professional translators translate all our paperwork to Spanish and considered it a cost of doing business there.  You don't charge for XWP therefore you need volunteers to do the translation - Arca, on the other hand, is a business that sells a product world wide and therefore should consider translations as a cost of selling world wide.

Sorry, but that is how I see it.

Sorry I can't help with your problem now - a few years ago I gave up fighting with my 2 HP tape drives and turned to using SATA hard disks mounted in a USB3 to SATA adapter, which also means I can clone disks as necessary and have one on standby should problems arise.

Hi Andrew,

For serious backups you need a larger NAS box.  They are fast and have redundancy.

Applications / Re: Panorama Maximum Resolution
« on: December 22, 2023, 01:19:44 am »
Hi Martin,

the 30" monitor (Dell u3023e) is on order but is held up because of Christmas parcel delivery problems.  Being a 16:10 monitor it will do 1920 x 1200 (the resolution of my 28" monitor at the moment) as well if necessary although getting the full resolution would be nice.

Hi Martin.

Panoutil -i gives a long list of resolutions so I have attached it as pano.txt.

While we are on this topic I have a question.  What is the maximum resolution that can be displayed by panorama?  At the moment I am running 1920 x 1200 on a 28 inch monitor.  I would like to go to 2560 x 1600 on a 30 inch monitor.  Is that possible?

Comments, Suggestions & Questions / Re: USB to Parallel

What printer?

Some work using an adapter cable.  For me, the solution was to put my printers on the network which ment they were accessible from any computer in the house without problems.

Virtualization / Re: AToF - Platform Build - serving up x64 apps to ArcaOS
« on: December 07, 2023, 10:23:10 am »
From what I am reading it appears that you assume that we all have windows on our computers - I don't.  The only version of windows in my house is the very cut down version in my Data Logger.  I also have Linux Mint on a couple of my computers that I operate via a hdmi usb kvm switch which has served me very well over the years.
The fact I build all my computers from components means that I don't pay the win tax.

I just tried to look up the ThinkCentre M900 Tiny and Lenovo has it as 'Withdrawn' which usually means there have been problems with manufacture which could explain the problems you are having.

Maybe I'm biased but I always avoid anything with an Intel processor, for me it has been AMD all the way since the advent of their 486.  I have set up a couple of friends with Beelink mini units and If I didn't have all my computers I would get one for myself.

Have you considered that the owner might not be interested in internationalising the site and the programs.

Also do you know any other Korean programmers that you can contact who might help?

Utilities / Re: ArcaOS Time Sync Problems
« on: November 25, 2023, 02:38:19 am »
Hi Martin,

It would be nice to see the full screen of the 'Clock Synchronization' display, but my feeling is that it needs a full 'SET TZ' statement in config.sys to be of any use otherwise how does it know what to look for to synchronise with.

Hi Martin,

As far as I remember 'Clock Sync' assumes you have the correct 'SET TZ= ' in the config.sys, it does not put it there (see set tz in the command reference) and it does need the second version you show.  Just think yourself lucky you don't have something like I need  -
SET TZ=CET-1CDT,3,-1,0,7200,10,-1,0,10800,3600
