Title: ArcaOS on ThinkCenter M93 Tiny
Post by: karotlopj on October 12, 2017, 12:33:59 pm
I'm sure I posted this a couple of months ago but can't find any trace....

I'm trying to run ArcaOS on a ThinkCenter M93 Tiny but the keyboard and mouse do not work. The system runs OK on a ThinkPad  X61, but on the M93 Tiny it boots up but I can't do anything. The clock works so the system has not hung. The keyboard works with the Boot Menu, but once ArcaOS boots I get no response.

What should I try?

I just noticed I can use Alt-F1 during booting and select from the available options but once booted there is no response.  Could it be the USB drivers causing the problem?

Hi John.

Remember that there was some forum data loss from August-September.

Maybe it is something related to the USB. Can you check on the BIOS if there is a way to swap USB 3 to 2 ? (or some legacy mode for USB). It can be also interesting to check the specs and see if all USB ports are 3.0. Can you please post the full model number of you  ThinkCenter M93 Tiny  ?

Regards

Hi John

Check USB is enabled in BIOS settings.
The USB keyboard works prior to booting probably as a result of the BIOS having USB Legacy support enabled.

Post all the USB related lines from your config.sys file and how many of what USB controllers the system has.

There is an updated USB package from AN which I think has an updated usb keyboard driver which may be worth installing.

Regards

Pete

The M93p tiny has no BIOS setting to revert to USB 2.0. I was able to use any USB port after installation, but booting can only occur if my external DVD is plugged into the yellow USB socket on the front panel.

I just reinstalled today and things seem to work OK - keyboard and mouse work just as they should, so I've no idea what was wrong previously.

Hi John.

Please send me the details, model number and pci.exe report so I can add a Wiki page about it.
