Programming / Re: Python and GUI on OS/2
« on: March 25, 2022, 03:08:45 am »
Hey Martin,
IMHO  the only viable option for GUI programming with Python on OS/2 is PyQt - https://wiki.python.org/moin/PyQt. Python-Tkinter used the Tcl/Tk gui toolkit - which we  don't have (other than some ancient version that maybe worked with X11)
Tcl/Tk is ancient but is PM and not X11.

I either installed or updated it the other day but have never used it before... I just tested it.  I downloaded the youtube-dip and then searched and downloaded successfully.

Heh Andy!

Do you have Python 3 installed on your system? If so, have you noted any problems related to it, as it seems to be an experimental Python installation for us at the moment.

M
I installed Python 3 shortly after it became available.  I have not noticed any issues thus far.

Internet / Re: RPM: Switching from i686 to Pentium4
« on: February 26, 2022, 05:39:27 am »
I run this script to build a list of installed programs and it builds a cmd script to reinstall them.
It would probably be better to set it all in one install as some of the installs will have the others as dependencies and therefore will already be installed before the script hits that install but it then just says it is already installed at the latest version.
I then rename /usr and /etc and run the yum bootstrap (p4) and run the script created above.
It takes one argument, the name you want to call the script.
Code: [Select]
/* REXX to get just package names from RPM installed output */

rc = SysLoadFuncs()
Parse Arg fileout

rc = SysFileDelete(fileout)
fileinv = holdrpm.txt

address cmd 'yum list |grep install >'fileinv
do while Lines(fileinv)
  text = LineIn(fileinv)
  parse var text package'.'.
  rc = Lineout(fileout,'yum install -y 'package)
end
rc = SysFileDelete(fileinv)

I have not used the output but this makes one install line:
Code: [Select]
/* REXX to get just package names from RPM installed output */

rc = SysLoadFuncs()
Parse Arg fileout

rc = SysFileDelete(fileout)
fileinv = holdrpm.txt

address cmd 'yum list |grep install >'fileinv
list = ''
do while Lines(fileinv)
  text = LineIn(fileinv)
  parse var text package'.'.
  list = list || ' ' || package
end
rc = Lineout(fileout,'yum install -y 'list)
rc = SysFileDelete(fileinv)

Programming / Re: GSView - make complains of "No such file or directory"
« on: January 30, 2022, 08:30:08 pm »
I have used ps2write when writing to a file but I use os2prn print to a printer.
I did find this bug going back to gsview 4.6:
https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687542
It states there was a patch for OS/2 for this issue, I haven't looked closer at this point... I came across it as I've been searching for a change that I dimly recall for the Ghostscript include path that I can't locate.

I did the build so long ago that I did not think of putting this up when I created a github account.

I found the short readme I wrote, it shows I built Ver. 5 with gcc 4.4.7:
This is a quick build of gsview2 5.0.  I needed a copy of gsview2 but the link for gsview2 4.9 off of the gsview webpage
was dead so I pulled the source and built it.  This has had limited testing, just enough to see a few PDF and PS files opened.
Most of the testing has been with Paul Smedley's 9.04 version of Ghostscript.  This version was built with KLIBC rather
thank EMX so requires libc065.dll.  I built it with -static-libgcc so it should not require gcc447.dll but was built with
GCC 4.4.7.  It was built with -Zhigh-mem to use high memory so it may not run on older kernels without high-mem support.

Attaching the diff I created... I probably would have put it in the zip I uploaded too.

Hardware / Re: Hardware Compatibility Wishlist for 2022
« on: January 21, 2022, 04:45:34 am »
My current working on AVxCAT (v2 beta) works well with webcam using Wim's webcam.exe progam.
I can record video + audio in syncro or record video only or audio only.
(no stream out to the network)

Currently, I only enable high quality which is copy received streams into output which is then AVI for video or WAV for audio.
I did a few test to have output into any other format (it works but I have to adjust some coding parts in this mode and should be available in a several days - use of any other video format results into higher storage use which increase up to several 10th of megabytes (between 8M to about 35M) into share low memory)

If some are interested into testing my current v2 beta, please left a comment here.
(Of course, it has many other added features like icecast, front cover when copy disc or using discid etc... and many other improvements, optimizations, all available with ffmpeg 4.x)

Rémy

Update (ffmpeg): I did a test streaming my webcam video+audio directly as mp4 to udp and it works (having both video and audio in the stream)
e.g.  I tested using my webcam stream as input and using for final output ( -tune fastdecode -tune zerolatency -fflags nobuffer -f mpegts "udp://127.0.0.1:8888?pkt_size=1316" )
I opened VLC player and put in udp://@127.0.0.1:8888?pkt_size=1316  and got video + audio  (with a latency of course)
I may be able to borrow a Logitech Pro Stream Webcam, any idea of it would be supported?

General Discussion / Re: Strange hobbes.nmsu.edu behavior.
« on: July 25, 2021, 04:37:43 pm »
Bonjour,
Instead of opening a new thread I prefer to dig up this one, since this can also be considered as a strange behaviour of Hobbes web interface.

I wonder if anyone here also noticed that since Hobbes went "SSL", the sort option doesn't seem to work anymore ("search=&stype=any&sort=date&dir=%2F"), especially the "sort by date".
Using ISO date format would be easier for this, but anyway I am sure that a good script can deal with a date string.  :P

OK. Some will tell me the date field doesn't mean anything with the All Ye Olde Archives posted recently, but still.

Have a nice day you all !

Hey Guillaume
Does this do what you are wanting?

Hi, each round (shuffle) is called a hand. I used to like playing hearts, where did Tellie post the game?
I haven't played it yet but installed it via RPM a couple weeks ago I guess it was.

Applications / Re: IBM and VisuaAge C / C++ runtimes
« on: January 07, 2021, 04:06:24 am »
Hi

I want to try to organize and upload the IBM C and VisualAge C runtime files in one file. This is just to allow people to find only some missing DLLs, nothing amazing.

I'm doing it based on this list: http://www.edm2.com/index.php/VisualAge_C%2B%2B_Run-Time_Libraries

I want to focus first on each release with the latest fixpack.  So this is my list for the moment:

Code: [Select]
VisualAge C++ 3.0 + Fix 8
07-29-1997 185,342 CPPOM30.DLL
07-29-1997 39,633 CPPON30.DLL
07-29-1997 83,732 CPPOOB3.DLL
07-29-1997 46,618 CPPOOD3.DLL
07-29-1997 62,776 CPPOOM3.DLL
07-29-1997 644,810 CPPOOU3.DLL
07-29-1997 174,493 CPPOS30.DLL

C/C++ Compiler 3.6.5 + Fix 2
11-08-2000       44,281      CPPRDI36.DLL
11-08-2000      299,825      CPPRMI36.DLL
11-08-2000       75,393      CPPRNI36.DLL
11-08-2000      285,955      CPPRSI36.DLL
11-08-2000       57,077      CPPRWM36.DLL
11-08-2000       34,875      CPPXM36.DLL
11-08-2000       45,571      CPPXM36I.DLL
11-08-2000       34,554      CPPXS36.DLL
11-08-2000       43,045      CPPXS36I.DLL

VisualAge C++ 4.0 - Fix 1
03-16-1999 221,237 CPPRSI40.DLL
03-16-1999 235,849 CPPRMI40.DLL
03-16-1999      55,549 CPPRNI40.DLL
03-16-1999 1,437,780 CPPOBI40.DLL
03-16-1999 203,776 CPPODI40.DLL
03-16-1999 1,997,664 CPPOUI40.DLL
03-16-1999 56,430 CPPRWM40.DLL

I thought that IBM C 3.6.5 latest fixpack was #2, but I found this file: cpprmrs.zip with different time stamps and sizes:

Code: [Select]
02-07-2001  299,623    cpprmi36.dll
02-07-2001  286,010    cpprsi36.dll

I'm wondering were did "cpprmrs.zip" showed up since IBM C-C++ Fixpack 2 is dated 2000-12-20, and if this is the latest versions, and if there was also a 2001 version of the rest of the DLLs. Where there some unlisted fixpacks that are not availble on IBM's site anymore?

If you know about any newer version of the others VisualAge runtime DLLs, or any other comments, please let me know.

Regards

There were a few updates since FP2:
5-14-02  18:28         285,977    154   ___A_  cpprsi36.dll
5-14-02  18:28         299,726    154   ___A_  cpprmi36.dll
5-14-02  18:28          75,393    154   ___A_  cpprni36.dll

I found them here:

OK.... it took a while - but I finally produced sound with HDA hardware (albeit virtualised) with 4.14.202...

Testing appreciated: https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.14.202-20201227.zip

Not sure I fully understand why the change I made to OSS32_WaveClose() fixed things, but I'll worry about that later!!

Sound working on my Thinkpad W530

Programming / Re: How to check file accessibility in REXX?

If I am not misreading what you want, sysfiletree() should do what you want.  This is OOREXX documentation but as I recall it is the same for the OS/2 version:
