Okay thanks gentleman. I will give both those suggestions a try.

Programming / Open watcom lib question
« on: February 18, 2017, 09:39:33 pm »
Does anyone know where there is a list that indicates which functions are contained in which lib files? I specifically want to know which lib file contains the time functions. Are all the time function code isolated by itself in one lib file? I would just like to recompile that lib file, if possible since I modified some of the code in 2 of the functions. This is version 1.9. I have downloaded the source. Creating apps with it is working great but recompiling existing lib files from source is turning out to be another ballgame with me apparently.

Programming / Printf and ansi color codes

Just a simple question guys. Using open watcom 1.9  and wondering if it supports using ansi color codes with printf to change text colors? I have never done it using printf or is there a better way than printf to do it in open watcom? Thanks.

Oh and the v2 installer actually didn't create program objects for any of the tools. I just ended up with an empty folder on the desktop as well . Never had any issues with installing the 1.9 version. So far nothing has went poof on me with 1.9. I think I will stick with it for now.

Oh I realize that. I tried v2 fork but the ide kept crashing on me so that is why I went back to 1.9. The ide from 1.9 doesn't give me any issues. I will check out the links.

That is stuff I have already looked at following the links from the open watcom website. I will stick with 1.9. It doesn't give me any issues.

Hi guys, I am modifying the time and localtime functions. Trying to squash some bugs I noticed when I used the functions along with strftime in some test programs I compiled. I will check for the make file but I don't recall seeing one. I will check again.  This is where I found the source for 1.9:

I will let you guys know how it goes.

Hi all, I wonder if someone could point me to some info on how to compile the clib source. I have open watcom 1.9 for OS/2 and I have downloaded the source and modified some of the time function code but I have never done a compile on the clib stuff. Could I just simply recompile the time function code or does all the libraries have to be compiled at once? Is this info buried somewhere in the help file? I will continue to browse it.

Okay thanks guys, that is the answer I was looking for. I will just have to hard code the path into the apps I want and then hard code the path into the field of the Program object template. It is what it is.

I understand that about the HOME variable. I just used that as an example. The question is whether you can have variable substitution in program object's fields or not.

Virtualbox 5.024
OS/2 Warp 4.52 unofficial fixpak 6

Hello all, is it not possible to have environment variable substitution in the Working Directory field for program objects?

For example: the program object for the text editor. If I have the HOME environment variable set to c:\home\adam and I want the Text Editor's Save As dialog box to always open in my home directory is it not possible to just specify %HOME% in the working directory field for the Text editor's program object? I have tried using %HOME% and that doesn't work. I have tried several different permutations but nothing has worked yet. I am beginning to think it just doesn't support variable substitution.

Can you try running it in safe mode? I believe the switch is -safe-mode although that might not be the correct syntax. I have not tried starting it from the command line so I am not familiar with the switches.

Okay, I just checked the command line help and it is --safe-mode.

I believe he is referring to the configuration page within Firefox - about:config.

I use the ntp 4.20 port build 6 lib06 package. You can get it from Hobbes. Just do a search for ntp on Hobbes and you will find it. It contains ports of both ntp and ntpdate. I have been using ntpdate for a couple of weeks and I have not had any issues with it yet.

Actuaaly, no offense to anyone but the thread is not about sports in general. I was just mentioning my excitement about opening day at Comerica Park last Friday. If you guys want to talk sports in general, that is fine but please start your own thread about it.
