These are the commons problems you may find installing eComStation.

  • Insert eComStation Installation CD-ROM and press any key - Does not work
  • Disk problem layout: The last partition extends beyond the expected cylinder boundary

Insert eComStation Installation CD-ROM and press any key - Does not work

Error shown

When booting, it says:

Insert eComStation Installation CD-ROM and press any key

After that, you can no longer continue with the installation.

Solution

eComStation 2.0 installer does not come with AHCI support, so the SATA CD-ROM drives do not get recognized by the eCS installer.

This was fixed on eComStation 2.1 that included an open source AHCI driver that can be enabled on the installation process.

Disk larger than 512 GB and incompatible geometry

Error shown

You can not install eComStation because you get an error that says "The disk is larger than 512 GB and has been partitioned using a geometry which is incompatible with eComStation."

Solution

eComStation 2.x has a 512 GB HDD limitation.

There are two possibilities:

  • Erase all the partition and create them using eComStation

or

  • Resize all existing partition to fit on 512 GB.

Information about this is on the eComStation Quick installation guide included on the eCS CD. Check the chapter "1.2 Using a Hard Disk Larger than 512 GB"
