Each and every month I have been asked this question, "Does WarpOnline accept advertising?" I want to set the record straight.

The fact is that we purposely accept no money of any kind from vendors of OS/2 software or related hardware. Why? For one, we don't have too. Being an Internet magazine affords us several privileges, among them the ability to produce with almost zero cost. This is one of the most exciting things about the Internet: the traditional barriers to entry in the publishing field are non-existent on the Internet.

The second reason is that we don't want to, even if we were in this to make money. The reason: integrity of our reviews and opinions. We felt that when we started WarpOnline that there was a lack of quality critical journalism in the OS/2 field. Most news consisted of glossy press releases and glowing information - very little reflection and commentary. To accept money from an advertiser would mean we would be tempted to "ease up" to maintain their sponsorship - something we will never do.

Another question I am frequently asked is if WarpOnline accepts outside submissions. Absolutely! We are always looking for good-quality OS/2 related journalism - so give it a try! Over 20,000 people next month will read your article, so even if we can't promise fortune, you can at least achieve some fame.

Your magazine continues to grow: This month we will be distributed for the first time on a subscription CD in Germany, as well as be setting up two mirror sites overseas for our European friends - one in Germany, and the other in Italy. We are also working on an Italian translation of the magazine.

Thanks for "picking up a copy" of this month's WarpOnline. See you right back here next month. :)
