Pre-Release 0.25, 01.09.97

New Features:

  • Warp Enhancer is now also available in German. Language can be selected using the General tab in the settings notebook. Other languages will be added in the next versions.

Fixed Problems:

  • Hide mouse pointer did hide the pointer even when it was not turned on. Pointer sometimes did not reappear immediately.
  • Restart system using the enhanced shutdown dialog will save the settings of WPS and terminate all running programs properly.
  • No move and size when window is maximized prevented the user to select/activate the window using a mouse click.
  • Timeout check has been totally removed. Warp Enhancer will never expire and no message will never annoy any user.

Pre-Release 0.23, 01.07.97

New Features:

  • Mouse pointer can be hidden after a certain period of inactivity.
  • Tracking of mouse button 3 can simulate scrolling up and down. Should work for most standard OS/2 applications. This should help you to avoid buying certain mice from dubious vendors...
  • Added extra shutdown page for system shutdown dialog replacement settings. Also added shutdown messages from some foreign OS/2 versions. Please send me screenshots of your WarpCenter shutdown dialog and desktop shutdown message if you have a different language version of your OS/2!
  • State of Numlock key can be altered by pressing the Numlock key. Either Numlock is off or it is permanently on.
  • Extended the use of mouse button 3 simulates double click with mouse button 1. This feature now works for WinOS/2 sessions (seamless, for fullscreen get new Windows mouse driver).
  • Extension sort now also appears in folder menu bar (before only in folder context menu).
  • Added new VIO/DOS page in settings. This page allows you to configure functions related to OS/2 and DOS windows.
  • Extended marking for VIO/DOS windows. This automatically copies selected text into the clipboard when you release the mouse button. For Warp 3 users, this provides them with the marking functions known from Warp 4 (+ automatic copying of selected text).
  • Quick paste. This allows you to paste the content of the clipboard into a VIO/DOS window by simply double-clicking mouse button 1.

Fixed Problems:

  • When the WPS crashed and was automatically restarted, Warp Enhancer caused the system to hang. WE will now automatically be closed on a WPS crash.
  • Excluding desktop window now works with WarpCenter at the bottom of the screen.
  • Fixed bug where calling "Calculate Folder Size" without the status bar turned on caused a SYS3175

Known Problems:

  • When closing WE with a status bar on the desktop window, there may be a short "hang" of the system.

Pre-Release 0.20, 11.05.97

New Features:

  • Numlock key can be permanently turned on. Also works for OS/2 windows. (thanks to Jeppe Cramon and Joe DiAdamo)
  • Warp Enhancer settings menu can be shown in folder context menu.
  • Mouse button 1 and 2 pressed simultaneously can show window list (works everywhere except title bar controls).
  • Win 95 keys can now be used under OS/2. (window list and context menu) This feature doesn't seem to work on every system.
  • Folder contents can now be sorted according to their DOS .3 extension. (thanks to Steffen Hotz)
  • Backspace key can open parent folder. (simulates context menu entry)
  • Update delay for status bar can now be configured (0 to 5000 msec, default 300ms)
  • Enhanced shutdown dialog. Allows selection of shutdown, reboot, dual boot or hibernation. Needs configuration on "Misc" page two!

Fixed Problems:

  • Workaround for bug in several versions of Warp 3 causing folders to hang or mouse pointer to disappear. Folder subclassing can now be delayed. Value can be configured and should be adjusted to your system (as low as possible).
  • Fixed minor bug where a PM timer was not always freed correctly when exiting WE.
  • Showing system menu as context menu on title bar caused various problems with real context menu not showing up correctly.
  • Corrected problems with tabbing order (I've just had no time to do the tabbing order :-)
  • Warp Enhancer can now be used with Object Desktop (exception see Known Problems)
  • Hide settings instead of minimizing now works.

Known Problems:

  • Support for Win95 keys doesn't seem to work on every system. Tested only with ultra-cheap Mitsumi-keyboard (~$10 :-) This will be fixed for the next version.
  • Using Warp Enhancer with Object Desktop causes problems in Object Navigator. Use with caution!
  • Starting WE again when hidden doesn't bring up settings dialog.

Pre-Release 0.17, 29.03.97

New Features:

  • Improved linker settings to produce smaller files which load faster (about 15% smaller)
  • Compressed executables with LXLite 1.18 (again about 15% smaller files)
  • Extended the use of mouse button 3 to simulate double click with mouse button 1. Double click now works for:
    • Containers/WPS folders in details view
    • Palette windows (color, font and layout)
    • IPF aka online help windows
  • Mouse button 2 clicked on title bar of any window can show system menu (like W'95/NT).
  • Moving and sizing of maximized windows can be prohibited (like Windows).
  • Added REMOVE.CMD which deregisters WPS Helper class and deletes class file from \OS2\DLL
  • WE will now check for the right versions of its DLLs (WEHOOK.DLL and WEWPS.DLL)
  • You can now choose whether you want WE to MINIMIZE or HIDE itself when you press OK or start it without "show settings" selected.
  • Calculate Folder Size now shows number of files and directories found.
  • Decimal separator char will be queried from system instead of using English dot by default
  • Improved recalculation algorithm. Less re-calculations now.

Fixed Problems:

  • IMPORTANT: Warp Enhancer can now be closed even if there are folders that have been opened after WE was started. This also corrects the following problems:
    • System shutdown with WE started and open (enhanced) folders doesn't hang your system anymore.
    • "Include folders opened before" can now be selected without any consequences
  • Corrected INSTALL.CMD so that if works when called from a root directory.
  • When minimizing folder windows to title bar size, system menu and close/minmax buttons were no more accessible.

Known Problems:

  • Known Problems = Known_Problems(Version_0.15)
    • Fixed_Problems(Version_0.17) :-)
  • Hide Settings does not work on every system

Pre-Release 0.15, 07.03.97

This is the first public release

Known Problems:

  • Registering the WPS Helper DLL takes a few seconds on OS/2 Warp 4. This seems to be a problem with OS/2 as Warp 3 doesn't have any problems with it.
  • Some fonts and certain font sizes of a specific font cause problems with the status bar height or the status bars don't update to the new font. You should avoid System VIO, System Monospaced, all flavours of Courier. Good fonts are WarpSans, System Proportional, Helv, Helvetica and most others. This may be fixed in a new release.
  • Window List Filtering only filters entries which are present *before* Warp Enhancer is started. This restriction won't be present in the next public release of Warp Enhancer.
  • When switching folder views from icon view to details view and then switching back, objects may glide upwards. This seems to be a problem with OS/2. May be fixed in the future is the demand is there.
  • Online help is not complete and is not implemented for each window and control.
  • WE may report size 0 Bytes for certain files on FAT drives. This only happens with files whose objects' names are longer than 8.3 or contain any character that are not allowed on FAT drives. This will be fixed soon.
