Well, guess it's really time to upgrade the wifi security if you're still using WEP based encryptions; as the subject indicates solid proof that the WEP encryption can be cracked in short time. The Register has an interview with three researchers, Erik Tews, Andrei Pychkine and Ralf-Philipp Weinmann developed a faster attack (based on a cryptanalysis of RC4 by Andreas Klein).

In my own case I'm running with the first available IBM wifi card with provided drivers as well from IBM, but need I say that this card only supports WEP64/128. The Generic MAC Wrapper driver (GenMac) of Willibald Meyer doesn't do it for this IBM card either so new hardware needed and minimum recomendation when talking about wifi encryption should be WPA/WPA2.
