Kodi

(1/1)

karotlopj:
So when are we going to get an OS/2 version of Kodi ?

https://kodi.tv/

Martin Iturbide:
Hi

I would love to have Kodi. It is so nice to watch a lot of things, once you cut the learning curve it is so cool.

But I don't know what does it uses, libraries, language, etc. (I only read that it uses SDL).  Maybe someone with more experience can say if it is easily portable or it will take a lot of work.

Regards

Dave Yeo:
First thing I read, http://kodi.wiki/view/Development#General_guidelines is

--- Quote ---     3D graphic controller (GPU) will always be required hardware for XBMC so try to utilize the GPU as much as possible

--- End quote ---

So it probably uses SDL2 and we don't have any 3D drivers

karotlopj:
Can't they be ported from Linux?

Apologies if that is a dumb question...

Dave Yeo:
It's really non-trivial to port a video driver. Besides even Linux hasn't got very good 3D support without using closed drivers.
