File comparison editor wanted
« on: May 07, 2016, 01:53:40 pm »
I'm looking for an editor which can show two files side by side and highlight the differences between them.

Anyone know of anything like this?

I use NEPMD for editing and KDiff3 for file comparison. KDiff3 is by far the best app for that, IMO.

Beside kdiff3 DIffzilla included in VisualSlickEdit and SmartSync (Java) do a pretty good job on comparing files or directories.

Download: http://trac.netlabs.org/qtapps/wiki/QT4%20Development
Installation: http://www.ecsoft2.org/kdiff3 and the included readme.
Documentation: http://kdiff3.sourceforge.net/doc/index.html

Note that I didn't have to install anything mentioned on ecsoft2.org. (The packages were already installed for other apps.) Even cups.dll is not required to start and use that app.
