RsyncBackup/2 - easy way to setup Rsync v3.09 for OS/2.

Rsync is a fast and extraordinarily versatile file copying tool. It can copy locally, to/from another host over any remote shell, or to/from a remote rsync daemon. ... Rsync is widely used for backups and mirroring and as an improved copy command for everyday use.

Including:

- Zip backup boot partition
- Scans and auto setup of Local & Network backup of paritions
- Or use the included scripts
- Install 'DragText' for timed backups (included with eCS 2.2)

- Setup of the Rsync Server

Needs some testing and suggestions, I have it about where I want to go with it.

I'm using these parameters (any thoughts ? Post what you use please):

Sorry, I included the wrong ZipBoot.cmd file, I updated the RsyncBackup-v1_1.zip file so you don't need this if you haven't yet downloaded RsyncBackup-v1_1.zip.

Attached is the correct version, it's not a stand alone version it needs RsyncBackup/2.

UPDATE: need to change the working directory for the Zip Boot-Drive WPS object from



E:\PROGRAMS\...\RSYNCBACKUP

to

E:\PROGRAMS\...\RSYNCBACKUP\ZIPBOOT

Finished the 7 day Incremental backup scripts !

They create a current backup /w  7 day increments, just copy to Scripts folder overwrite old ones. I updated the RsyncBackup-v1_1.zip file so you don't need this if you haven't yet downloaded RsyncBackup-v1_1.zip.

I would definitely like to add some more options ! Any help or suggestions auto delete after 7 days, different sets, exploring --suffix= ?

Note: this creates only one backup file, use --suffix=Time()  to timestamp the files (hourly backups). Time(N) 24 hour time doesn't work (need to remove the colons first, help /w rexx parse code), using total mintues now.

Does your RsyncBackup create live backup/copy of a disk/partition (so disk=>disk copy)? Or is it primarily meant to create a ZIP backup?

I ask because I have been using dSync (dSync for OS/2, Version 0.1.6z  (c) 2001-2003 by MaDdEd-Ii) for a number of years now. It runs once every 24 hrs and simply syncs up my partitions...

RsyncBackup/2 uses zip for the boot partition only & Rsync for the rest.
