wpa_supplicant v2.0 for OS/2
« on: May 12, 2013, 09:37:02 am »
Hi All,

I just noticed that wpa_supplicant 2.0 is out - and has a long changelog (http://hostap.epitest.fi/gitweb/gitweb.cgi?p=hostap.git;a=blob_plain;f=wpa_supplicant/ChangeLog), so I figured I'd build it for OS/2.

On a sample of one laptop, and one access point, it appears to work as well as previous builds. For those unaware, wpa_supplicant is used by xwlan to connect to secure wireless access points.

Test build can be downloaded from http://smedley.id.au/tmp/wpa_supplicant-2.0-os2-20130512.zip

Feedback appreciated!

Cheers,

Paul

Hi

I installed it on eCS 2.1,  and connecting to the WPA-PSK keeps working fine. The wireless adapter is running with GenMac (Intel 2200 WLAN).

Is there any specific thing that needs to be tested?

Hi Martin, it would be interesting to see if it works with any wireless access points that didn't work with previous wpa_supplicant builds, but also to know if the reverse is true - ie working access points now don't.

Your work is also very much appreciated. Thanks.

On my IBM ThinkPad T43 (1871-W8M with Intel 8086:2915 device, run by GENMAC), it works the same as earlier versions (very well), when using WPA-PSK. It still won't connect if I try to use WPA2-PSK, but WPA-PSK is rock solid.

Trying WPA2.PSK produces:
Code: [Select]
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
lan1: Trying to associate with SSID 'DougB'
lan1: Could not read SSID from driver
lan1: No network configuration found for the current AP
lan1: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED bssid=00:00:b8:fd:29:00 reason=3 locally_generated=1
lan1: Trying to associate with SSID 'DougB'
and it never connects. I suspect that it may be a GENMAC problem.

wpa_supplicant 2.6 has been out for a while, and includes some security fixes. Seems to work here....

Great. I will try it, when I get my hands on the T53 again (probably in June).
