getting samba to work .......
« on: May 29, 2017, 03:09:28 pm »
Having, without any trouble at all, installed blue lion in spare partitions on both my laptop and desktop, I optimistically thought that getting my distributed data back in sync by use of Samba should be the next challenge.

Both machines have wired connections, with static addresses, to the router and both communicate happily with the outside world. They can also ping each other using host names and i/p addresses. But the ArcaMapper programs on both machines just sit there 'refreshing network..' And LMHOSTS on the desktop (configured as server) is empty (there is no lmhosts on the laptop).

Can anyone please tell me what additional configuration I need to provide ?
