Thunderbird and a long-running script
« on: January 26, 2018, 02:52:31 am »
Sometimes Thunderbird presents a message like the attached.

Warning: Unresponsive script

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now,
or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: chrome://messenger/content/messengercompose/MsgComposeCommand.js:465

(excuse typos in above. The actual text is in the attachment.)

This is happening while typing a plain e-mail. What is going on?

Never seen that with Thunderbird. SeaMonkey and Firefox, yes.
Mozilla apps are basically a mixture of xul, dom and JavaScript so it's not that weird to get an error like that. Thunderbird is a pig here, just bringing it to the foreground can peg both cores for seconds, wish I knew what to do about it.
What version are you using? Looking at the latest, your error seems to correspond to a progress meter, which doesn't sound right.
Do you have extensions installed? Might want to try safe mode to see if it makes any difference.

Which settings were used for the message composition window (text or html)? The on-the-fly spellchecker seems to be enabled. It's a good idea to disable this feature for better performance under OS/2 which also depends on the used encoding.
