The rather detailed Des_chiffres.png of 27 april looks like a drowning light blue cartoon character, with 2 light blue feet. As if the game can be quite hard. I had to zoom to see what it actually was: numbers. I'll try to use the released, simple Galgje.png. If anything to stick to a generic border theme.

Not an *.ICO file request, but a doodle in text. KMP, K Movie Player: the Korean flag, positive or negative, as a 3-D film frame of a 3-D Movies folde'ishr-icon, with and without the folder (KMP folder, KMP drop target, KMP UI). IIRC the Korean flag also was a little bit too detailed to make that work, even if you did restrict yourself to a smallest size of 40x40.

I thought at one time there was a grid spacing feature, but I do not see it in ArcaOS.

Old question, younger answer: I'm not using ArcaOS, but you may have been talking about Extended Desktop and its setting (tabs of the settings of the desktop), NPSWPS, or OO.EXE or a Rexx script (with or without WPTOOLS.DLL to query existing icons) which tries to set icon positioning by using WPS setup strings like ICONGRIDSIZE or ICONPOS. BUILDVRX.CMD of Watcom VX-REXX includes an example of ICONPOS, but nowadays I'd set its default screen size to its largest known screen size of 1024x768 instead of an outdated 640x480. The screen size is used to calculate ICONPOS-values.

Did a quick redo and added an os/2 icon.

Will probably be be used in a next release soon, w/o credits. The previous one really came close to a triangle-shaped, overwhelmed or drowning cartoon character. Two light blue feet sticking out to the left, and the hole of (IIRC) of the 4 representing facial features.

BTW, w.r.t. Digger: the original *.BMP artwork of DIGMENU3.ZIP itself, including but not limited to its EAs, qualifiies as bloatware. By choice. The largest bitmap can be converted to 256 colors, by using e.g. PMView or NConvert. The 2 smaller, untested bitmap files to 4 or 16 colors (at the moment please disable Hufman when PMView is used to save those small bitmap files, to avoid already reported extremer bloatware or crashes). Saves about 0.7 MiB of disk space and backup/restore time. I haven´t tested the small ones, but the largest file still works with 8 instead of 24 bits per pixel. FWIW.

Hi All

Not sure if this thread should be "hijacked" to discuss the BMPs supplied with DIGMENU3.ZIP but as Andre has commented I guess I should respond...

I did consider converting images but decided as the images total <1Mb to leave them alone.

The images are not required at all in order for digmenu to run - just make the interface more fun - so can be deleted if disk space is really tight.

Alternatively a user can create their own BMP files to use, just need to make the new images the same size as existing BMPs and use the same names as the existing BMP files.

I reduced the colors and added a new digger.ico.  The attached png shows what the icon looks like.

Hi David

Your Digger icon is not Digger, it is Nobbin.

Any chance of a good scanner icon preferably with a HP logo on? - I am sure you can do much better than my HPscan icon...

Regards

Pete

I took the digger from the included graphic in the digmenu3.zip.

As for the scanner icon, I see what I can do.  No guarantees.

Hi David

There are several "characters" involved - see http://www.digger.org/

I would upload the digger.ico used by digmenu but os2world does not allow uploading .ICO or .BMP files...

Hi Pete

A scanner icon is a very difficult icon to do when making an os2 icon due to all the limitations of the os2 icon.  I created one, not to happy with it, but I don't think I could do much better.  Others more skilled could probably make one better.

Hi David

Looks good to me - far better than I could manage.

I will use it with the next release of HPscan   :-)

Thanks

Pete

This is not a request. It may be inspiration, to identify categories or "popular" apps without any *.ICO file. A quick & dirty list of objects without an assigned *.ICO file, excluding many folders with a default icon. Typically 3-D folder icons aren't that hard to create.

Missing icons may have been caused by an original author of a ported app without any original icon, not having assigned some generic icon to an object yet, or not yet having converted some available Windows-icon to an OS/2 *.ICO file. And so on.

From my point of view the most remarkable categories are the 1st (multimedia), 2nd (browser without an icon), mainly the 4th (graphics without *.ICO file), and the last 4 (a.o. FM/2 objects, brands of emulated hardware, utilities, iconless software for programmers).
