Joop:
The 3 programs from Java-Screen-Recorder are very basic and more CLI then a program with a GUI. So, what's more which still works in Java 6? I found JScreenRecorder, but after "installing" and run the program I got an error with version 51, which means Java 7. But there was source... All other modules where compiled for version 6, only the main program leaves you in the dark because there is no information about minimal version. So I started Netbeans and did a try compilation. Got errors which Netbeans solved just by pushing some buttons. Got the question if I would downgrade to 6, YES. Next got errors which pointed to a not complete source. But with the way I do translations and bring that into a program, I did the same with the files from the test run. So now I have JScreenRecorder for Java 6 ;-). Did test the program. Yes it does everything what it should do, but.... Full screen is a problem, not due to recompiling. Java-Screen-Recorder doesn't have any problems with that. Also I want to do something, but its going smoother with Java-Screen-Recorder then with JScreenRecorder. So,it seems that GUI is not everything.... Also Java-Screen-Recorder has "internal" its own file format which can be converted to Quick-Time format. JScreenRecorder makes MP4 files. Not sure if the speed and smoothness has to do with the different file formats.

Now busy with page for Java-Screen-Recorder. English ready, have to do Dutch... Stay tuned ;-)

Hi Joop

Yes, java-screen-recorder is very basic, but it was the only thing that I found working. Do you consider you compiled version of JScreenRecorder better? please give me a download link of it to give it a try.

Regards

Joop:
I have added Java-Screen-Recorder to my Java pages. There is something to read and you can find it on my page in English http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e163.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e163.htm. You can make instruction movies with this package.

I have a picture with the player section (6 buttons at the top) and a tiny window with the record part;

In my search for other screen record programs I did find programs which has nothing to do with it, but needs testing. So have fun with this package and stay healthy.

No, JScreenRecorder does has two/three problems on my machine.
1) It looses or has problem with focus with the watermark feature. Even when set the mark it sometimes complains that it is not set and its not clear why. Also it didn't show the mark in the watermark panel with the choice option what watermark to use. It show sometimes and it doesn't show sometimes. Setting the watermark on a full screen capture seems not possible. Start small and enlarge it to full screen is possible for the capture area, the watermark won't move with it, so it ends up somewhere in the middle (that explains some video's). The watermark screen does hang, only way out is restarting the system. You can omit this with settings and not use the watermark.
2) If set to recording it is not possible on my machine to start an other program and do/show things how to and so on. The cpu pulse shoots to 99% and starting Mozilla won't go. Only after stopping the recording, the program comes up and on screen. So, for capture and showing things its pretty useless. You first have to start  the program, then start JScreenRecorder. And even then its going slow and sluggish.

End of story, I am an experience richer with recompiling a part. That's a plus. This program is not for my Java site. To much trouble on things you want to use and to much computer restarts. The bug tracker file stays empty, so no Java errors!

I have added a new program today to my Java corner. Its called Infocard Organizer and it is an outliner. You can read a little more on my page http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e164.htm or in Dutch http://joopn.home.xs4all.nl/os2ecs/ecs6e164.htm.

This is how it looks like;

That's it for today, stay healthy and have fun,
Joop
