Browser or website problem?

(1/2) > >>

Pete:
Hi All

I could not access os2world the other day as it seemed to have crashed with a "Database connection error".

Now that it is back I do not seem to be able to click on a forum topic on os2world.com and access the discussion eg clicking on "Samba client on OS2 Warp 4.52" results in this page opening http://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php?topic=2064.msg21495#msg21495 which displays "404 Not Found" on the browser tab and

"Not Found

The requested URL /forum/index.php was not found on this server."

Looking at the url I changed it from http: to https: and the discussion is now displayed.

Anyone else having this problem? - and is it a website problem?

Regards

Pete

I was getting errors loading OS2World, then I got completely blank pages. Later, after having shutdown for the night and restarted, I still had blank pages until I forced a total reload of the blank pages. I think it was just a problem with what was cached.

Dariusz Piatkowski:
Pete,

You might have to force the re-load (including cache re-fresh), here are the shortcust:

1) Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button

OR

2) Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)

At the moment it appears that clicking on a link in the forums section returns an http:// url which gives the error.  Making that to an https:// brings up the forum post.  It is going to be a PITA if we have to do that all the time.

Pete:
Hi All

Thanks for suggestions but no change.

I do notice that all links on os2world.com that point to somewhere within os2world.com are https: with the exception of all links in the section "Latest Forum Posts" which are all http: and result in 404s.

As Seamonkey seems to handle other websites that have the need to convert http: to https: - eg opening http://theartofsound.net/forum/ results in https://theartofsound.net/forum/ loading - I guess this is something specific to os2world.com and I'll just have to manually add the "s" to "http" when the 404 loads...

I was just about to post the above when I got the "Warning...new reply..." and reloaded os2world.com then, just to see, I middle-clicked (open link in new tab) on the link to ivans post on this topic.

No problem, the link opened in a new tab and displayed ivans post. Other links now work as expected as well. So, No, we are not going to have to manually change the url ivan - as you say that would have been a PITA  :-).

Regards

Pete
