I don't really know why the second voted option is a Butterfly :)

Will it be that eComStation used to came with that video of butterflies turning into the eCS logo?

Perhaps since the butterfly comes out of a caterpillar, eComStation comes out of OS/2? eCS being the next stage in the caterpillar's life?

Hi

I don't know why I still have this subject on my mind from time to time. Maybe I really like to have a mascot just like Android and Tux for the platform (OS/2 and eCS).

I still want an elephant to tribute the old nagging ARTCHON.EXE . And also mascots are "Public Domain" so people can play with it.  So, since I don't have good drawing skills I started to looks some alternatives that are Public Domain to try to turn it into mascots :)

1) Elephant by 14thWarrior

2) Elephant by 14thWarrior with Botero inspiration
License: Public Domain
I learned from Botero (Colombian Artist) that if you reduce the size of the eyes, you get a fat looking element :)

Could you adjust the irises of the eyes so that the poor animal does not look so cross-eyed?

Just some little mods to the eyes.
I'm not sure. It does seems to be much interest to have a mascot.

.... or should I start looking for other ones.

He (She? It?) now appears to looking straight ahead.  Right into the future.  The Future of OS/2 (or whatever it is to be called  ;D)

Now we need a slogan.  Elephants == strong . . . smart . . . good memories ??

The Mascot! Slogan?
« Reply #43 on: December 04, 2014, 03:15:25 pm »
'Strong, Smart and Reliable'?  8)

or 'strong enough to carry your work load'?  ;D

or 'strong and dependable'?  :D

Once you get a list of possible slogans, one could create a poll in the poll section to see which people like best?  8)

A) Should it not be a dancing elephant? Tutu optional

B) An elephant looking straight ahead is too much like the Postgresql and other open source logos

There are some old PD images that might be a start:
http://www.ntprints.com/image/354731/textile-trade-label-from-quarry-bank-mill-depicting-a-dancing-elephant-walking-along-a-tightrope-carrying-a-parasol-&-a-fan-&-is-wearing-a-hat-&-a-ribbon-tied-in-a-bow-framed-with-flowers

The alternative is a war elephant:
