Methods for taking yahoo emails backup for the best result?
You can create an account under thunderbird and access your yahoo emails
"Imap" (imap ssl/tls 993 and smtp ssl/tls 465 - ) allow you to have access to all your emails like you do from under firefox yahoo login.
With pop (pop3), you'll download (inbox) emails under thunderbird
Both access uses secured port
Input mail Server (POP)
Server : pop.mail.yahoo.com
Port : 995
SSL required : Yes
Send mail Server (SMTP)
Server : smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port : 465 or 587
SSL required : Yes
TLS required : Yes (if needed)
Authentification required : Yes
You have to change yahoo autorisation setting to allow fird party software to access your account.
- Account information
- Account security
- manage an application password < to allow fird party software to access account
Under thunderbird, you have a plugin for importexport emails (it works well under windows but I didn't give it a try under os/2) -
https://addons.thunderbird.net/fr/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/ >> update: I did a test, it works under OS/2 too
Under windows, I have an other nice tool: MailStoreHome (portable version). I don't know if this one could be ported to OS/2 !
