Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.

You can check Yahoo suggestion, but it is very useful.
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN5033.html

I don't have a need for it, since I don't use the yahoo mail much.
Maybe the "Download your email from Yahoo Mail into a third-party app" is the best alternative. I guess it is with IMAP and some software that keeps the files locally. If I don't remember wrong on yahoo you had to paid for POP access to your email.

Maybe someone else with more experience with the yahoo mail can provide more lights.

You can create an account under thunderbird and access your yahoo emails
"Imap" (imap ssl/tls 993 and smtp ssl/tls 465 - ) allow you to have access to all your emails like you do from under firefox yahoo login.
With pop (pop3), you'll download (inbox) emails under thunderbird
Both access uses secured port

Input mail Server (POP)

    Server : pop.mail.yahoo.com
    Port : 995
    SSL required : Yes

Send mail Server (SMTP)

    Server : smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port : 465 or 587
    SSL required : Yes
TLS required : Yes (if needed)
    Authentification required : Yes

You have to change yahoo autorisation setting to allow fird party software to access your account.
- Account information
- Account security
- manage an application password   < to allow fird party software to access account

Under thunderbird, you have a plugin for importexport emails (it works well under windows but I didn't give it a try under os/2) - https://addons.thunderbird.net/fr/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

>> update: I did a test, it works under OS/2 too

Under windows, I have an other nice tool: MailStoreHome (portable version). I don't know if this one could be ported to OS/2 !

I think a lot depends on how one uses Yahoo e-mail.

I have a Yahoo account because there are a few sites that don't accept my local e-mail server.  To get round that I have set the Yahoo account to forward all e-mails to my local server and they appear as normal in PMMail and are saved on my main machine (they also get backed up to one of my NAS boxes).

In fact I only go to the Yahoo account about every 6 months just to delete the junk.
