Hi Pete,

Good point to check the mixer settings. I notice a couple of additional settings in my Linux 3.2 mixer as well (compared to earlier ones) - expanded support in that version for my sound chip maybe? Master Playback and Master Switch are set the same in all the ones tried though, so something else is going on with Linux 3.2 here...

Guys,

Given the linux 3.2 build works for some, here's the linux-3.5 build...
http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-3.5.zip - release & debug builds included.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul

The only difference between 3.1.txt and 3.2.txt seems to be:-

3.1 Control iD: 1 has values set to 0
3.2  Control iD: 1 has values set to 64.

I would have expected 3.1.txt to show that control with values up to 64 but not 0 as 3.1 produces sound at your end.

It might be worth trying 3.2 with Control ID: 1 values set to 0 - it if works for 3.1...

Regards

Pete

Hi Paul

Installed the debug 3.5 build, rebooted, sound seems OK with this build - no obvious problems on limited testing.

Setting vlc to use kai:uniaud results in no sound from vlc; resetting to DART works fine.

Guys,

For those that have sound with any uniaud32.sys based on linux-3.2 or above, can you please confirm what version of uniaud16.sys you're running:
'bldlevel x:\mmos2\uniaud16.sys' should do it.

FWIW - I'm testing with the version shipped in ArcaOS 5.0.4
1.9.7 - built 25 Jun 2017

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul
I am not sure if you wanted a log from me since my system works great.  Here is a log using your latest test build.

Thanks - I'm hoping the logs of a working system may give some clues about why some systems don't work.

Cheers,

Paul

Update: copying over the 'core' code from linux 3.1 to the linux 3.2 build (with a couple of build breaks) got sound working. Next step to work out which specific change in core broke sound for us and fix it.

I tried the 3.2 Uniaud. Worked well here on real hardware and using headphones (speakers are broke). Got the option to adjust headphone volume that was never there. I'm hoping that it will allow using the headphones without the speakers also outputting sound.
Only problem was testing libkai support by starting SM up with "SET KAI_AUTOMODE=UNIAUD" and playing Youtube videos. If I paused the video, sound turned into clacking. Adjusting the volume down to zero and back up resulted in sound once again working. Now to test the 3.5 one.

Hi all,

I built uniaud32 based on 3.1.9 today. I almost hoped it wouldn't produce sound on my test system here, as it would have meant that I could use the releases from 3.1 -> 3.1.9 to help identify where things are going wrong for us.

Anyway, for those that have no sound in 3.2; but had sound in 3.1, I'm really interested in confirming that this one still makes sound.

http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-3.1.9.zip - debug and release builds included.

I still hope this will help narrow down the breaking (for us) changes in 3.2 and above....

Cheers,

Paul
