 Hi Paul,

Looks like you've been busy! I tried all 3 and it is a mixed bag:

Linux 3.2: Can't boot, get the 'Not enough memory...' message described earlier
Linux 3.2.102: Can't boot, ends with a 'System detected an internal processing error....' type message.
Linux 3.5: Seems to work fine (system sounds and YouTube)

I'll attach a debug log for 3.5. Thanks again!

Hi Paul

Installed the debug build from your latest uniaud32-linux-3.5.zip and can report it works as well as the previous build so far.

Hi Paul,

I've tested all three new builds on my Thinkpad X250.
All gave only distorted sound for me.
Please find attached the log-files.

Wish you a nice weekend.

Hi Paul,

I have tested the special version uniaud32-linux-3.2.102-MikeK.zip today.
The result is mixed.

After booting I got only distorted sound from the system sound and from pm123 (v. 142 Beta 1 from May 9, 2020).

After reboot and having the following lines in my startup.cmd enabled:
"unimix -id1 -cnt0 -val87"
"unimix -id1 -cnt1 -val87"
I got clear sound from system sound. Even volume control was working well.
Once I opened UniMixpm.exe the sound become distorted again.
unimixpm.exe is from 2005-08-12, size 218.282 Byte, found in C:\MMOS2\DLL\

Same behaviour after next reboot and starting pm123 instead of UniMixpm.exe.

Ta,

I just dusted off my old Lenova Thinkpad X220 and copied this driver over to it and rebooted.  Sound works fine.  Do not know what it is about the X250 that is different.

Uggh - linux 3.6.x introduces some quite significant changes... might be a while before we see another bump in kernel source....

Hi Mike

There is a later PMunimix here https://hobbes.nmsu.edu/download/pub/os2/apps/mmedia/util/mixers/PMUniMix-bin-0_82.zip

Might also be worth checking which unimix.exe you have installed. This version works OK here with Pauls 3.2 and 3.5 uniaud builds

25-06-17  5:12p        27,585      0 a---  unimix.exe

The current "official" release has this build of unimix.exe included ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/uniaud/Uniaud-20200506.exe

I suggest you place both unimix.exe and PMunimix.exe in \mmos2 rather than \mmos2\dll.

Pete

I've tried the versions mentioned here up to 3.5 and I can notice improvements...
* PM123 play web radio 44.1 kHz just as nice as before
* Unimix 0.82 doesn't crash and can now allow microphone in, though doesn't give any input
* Mplayer stutter and freeze the movie clips I play

Thanks for the report. Re: the MPlayer issues, are you able to try http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-3.2.102-MikeK.zip ?

Hi Pete,

I have installed the latest version for Uniaud from David as recommended. Everything was working well. Luckily also the pmUniMix is now working again. Version 0.8.2 crashed always, version 0.7.0 started but did no show any control at all in the past. Now both version are running. With Davids Uniaud also the Mic control is there, but I have no means of testing it.

Next step was to re-test Pauls different Uniaud versions. Unfortunately all new version didn't work well. Mostly there is sound, but never clear, always broken and distorted. pmUniMix is still starting, but doesn't show the Mic control when Pauls Uniaud is loaded.

I created the debug files for tests I have done today and returned to Davids latest version for now.

Greetings from Potsdam/Germany,
Mike

I added the PCI_QUIRKS listed at line 15077 of patch_realtek.c from http://trac.netlabs.org/uniaud/changeset/609 and rebuilt.

http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-3.2.102-MikeK2.zip - note this does not have the change that was included in uniaud32-linux-3.2.102-Mike2.zip

Hi Paul,

Just tested the provided version. Sound is still disrupted. :(

Hi Paul,
I noticed David just released a version of the Uniaudio drivers.  Does your attempts included his fixes?  I noticed KO had a Uniaudio driver on his home page with some kind of patch.  Maybe we need to get all these patches into a unified driver.
