Hi Paul,

...
I'm currently investigating the HDA traps, but if anyone has AC97 hardware and wants to help confirm the core at least works, feel free to try http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.4.238-20201018.zip
...

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear - I'm *EXPECTING* traps with HDA hardware - I'm more interested if it works with AC97 hardware other than my Virtualised system....

My laptop is a DELL Inspiron 15R 5537. The older Uniaudio drivers work.

What does 'unimix -card' report - I'll guess it's Intel HDA in which case the trap is to be expected.

Yep - so the trap is known... I'll post when/if I have HDA hardware working....

With some help from Steven Levine, I found the problem with the initial trap, and came across a second trap. I understand where the code is trapping, I just need to work out how to fixit. Hopefully that will be the last issue before I get a booting system again :)

Hi All,

http://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.4.238-20201022.zip

Trap should be fixed - but here at least - no mixer is detected. I still need to investigate this - but curious if it's a Sigmatel issue, or a broader issue.

unimix -card here reports:
Command line mixer for UNIAUD32. Version 1.1
Detected UNIAUD version 2.02.05
Detected 1 audio adapter(s)
Error: invalid number of PCM instances for adapter 0
Card info for adapter 0:
  num: 0
  id: Intel
  driver: HDA-Intel
  name: HDA Intel
longname: HDA Intel at 0xf0804000 irq 11
  mixer:
  componenets: HDA:83847680,83847680,00103401

Cheers,

Paul

 Seems to work OK here:

Detected 1 audio adapter(s)
Card info for adapter 0:

  componenets: HDA:10ec0887,1458a182,00100302 HDA:8086280b,80860101,00100000

I'll keep using it and let you know if anything comes up... thanks!

No trap here but no sound. Unimix gives me the same exact output as David.

Wow! That's encouraging! Maybe my issue is some idiosyncracy with Sigmatel hardware. I'll dust off the Thinkpad tonight or over the weekend and test locally with real hardware.

Are you able to upload a copy of alsahlp$ after a fresh boot?

Cheers,

Paul.

Mixer settings may have changed - try pmunimix and make sure all outputs are turned up.

Cheers,

Paul.
