 Paul,

Got a TrapE with 1230 too... trap dump uploaded to dropbox. Maybe these problems are specific to Realtek chips...

Hi Dave,

It's weird - my X250 uses a Realtek chip too, so it's not that simple...

Will look at your dump shortly, but any chance of a serial log of 1228 vs any of the trapping builds?

Cheers,

Paul

For those that have a working 1228 build, and a trapping 1229 build... please try the following:
https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230c.zip - alsa-kernel directory backlevelled to the same code as 1228
https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230d.zip - alsa-kernel, include and lib32 directories backlevelled to the same code as 1228

Hopefully this helps narrow things down....

Hi Paul,

20201230c works like a charm
20201230d works like a charm (attached files unimix card and unimix list)

Downloaded Theseus from hobbes (never used this program before, afair  ;D ) and attach as you guided with 20201228

All the best!!

Sigurd

 Paul!

1230c works great - sound is normal, no hesitations, and PMUnimix shows all 9 controls as before (one boot only).

  1230d gives a Trap E in UNIAUD32.

Gotta head to work right now, but I'll provide those serial logs when I get back later today...

Paul, everyone...

For those that have a working 1228 build, and a trapping 1229 build... please try the following:
https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230c.zip
https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230d.zip

Alright, here are the results:

1) uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230c
PASS - sounds is ON, no issues I can detect, see attached log capture

2) uniaud32-linux-4.19.163-20201230d
FAIL - no sound on bootup, see attached log capture

Further on, not sure if this is going to help or not (I suspect you are probably already using something similar to track so many configurations), but since you've put out so many releases I went back to P1 of this THREAD and built a quick matrix of the various test releases I tested, along with the TRAP (Y/N) and remarks. That includes the hardware snapshot as well ('unimix -card').

Thanks as always!

-Dariusz

 Paul,

Attached are various 4.19 debug version serial logs. All booted with sound except 1229 (boots, no sound) and 1230d (Trap E). This is somewhat different from the release versions...

I'll respond to some of the other posts later, but I figured out why 5.0 was trapping...

VERY lightly tested https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.0.21-20201231.zip
& https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.1.21-20201231.zip
& https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.2.21-20201231.zip

Hi, Paul
5.1.21 and 5.2.21  work ok on my  CA0106    (5.0.21  did not test  yet)

5.3 is trapping, will investigate next year (aka tomorrow)

Goal is to get to 5.4.x which is the current Long Term Support kernel then try and stabilise things and upload sources to netlabs svn.

Hi Paul,
can you produce a MAP file during the build process and ideally also intermixed assembler/c source files (MS called these .cod files)? Watcom solution to the latter is wdis.exe with the /s switch, I don't know if gcc has something comparable.
That will greatly help in identifying the exact trap location in the c source code and also typically the root cause of the trap.

5.0.21 and 5.1.21 start but no sound
5.2.21 no start, no trap.

 Happy New Year!

All 3 of the 5.x versions could boot, but 5.1 gave a TrapE 1 time (couldn't get it to repeat, but have the dump if you want it). No sound most of the time with any of them, except 1 time 5.2 booted with loud sound and system sounds occurring late. In every case PMUnimix showed only 3 controls.

Ohh.. version 5... we are getting close.

https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-5.2.21-20201231.zip

I tried "5.2.21-20201231" on the ArcaOS 5.0.6 VM on W10 host on the TP Yoga 14.
No Trap. It produce sound, but I lost control of the master volume tool.
