Heh Paul!
Ideally, we want to know the 'newest' build where sound still works.
I'd start about halfway through the list and see if it works, if it doesn't - divide the remaining list in half and try that one, etc
Cheers,
Paul
Well that was quick, Gents
As Davids 3.01.03 build didn't work, based on v5.14.7 (if I'm reading that right), I decided to go right back to the first files in your directory, Paul, also based on v5 - I downloaded your 3.0 and 3.1 debugs and releases, and installed each one - unless there is some other variable I'm missing, no sound seems to be generated from any of the 5.x series on the ALC892 chipset.
Still shows the 9 PMUnimix volume sections that the ALSA 1.0.24 based v2.01.02 shows, but there is no sound present in any of the four tests I did this morning.
I also checked what upgrades ArcaOS put out, in WarpIn format, in the interim - they use the file version described in Testlog as the identifier, and the latest versions present in WarpIn are 2.2.6 (the 2.01.02 version from 5.0.6) and 3.1.3 (version 3.01.03).
So by process of elimination, anything that remains must be obvious, to misquote the great sleuth - the ALSA 1.0.24 build must be the last version that worked - hence the testlog I provided from yesterday.
And brooding on it a bit last night over a glass of Hennessy Cognac on a beautiful mid fall summer night on the deck, I suspect its something extremely small, given everything is working, except the sound itself - I guess my question would be was there a wholesale rewrite of UniAud, as things jumped from Alsa v1 to Linux v5?
