After updating my computer (Thinkcenter 910s), when Thunderbird gets a message, it plays the system warning sound, currently garden\gar_warn.wav. Now the sound keeps repeating until I reboot. Other sounds sound fine. Downgraded to

Paul,

where do I find a compatibility list? I am planning to switch from onboard sound to a spearate sound card. Your driver is already used, it works fine! I did not find a text file in the archive. Thanks for your work!

Here is a link that may be of some help https://www.alsa-project.org/wiki/Matrix:Main. Although  it may be as it is the ALSA project which the Uniaud is based on.

Updated to latest 6.1.x kernel code: https://smedley.id.au/tmp/uniaud32-linux-6.1.107-20240901.zip

Thanks Paul

I tested it (Release version) with ArcaOS 5.1.0 (BIOS) guest on VBox 7.0.14  (Windows 11 23H2 host).
- VM ICH AC97: Works, Audio control working, no traps. Just like the included ArcaOS 5.1 Uniaud.
-- I still have an issue that the first time I play a wav, I hear it loud (100%) and the next times I play it I hear it lower respecting the volume setting. If I drag a file to force the drag sound it sound 100% again, I play another wav  and it is 100% again and the next times respects the volume control (40%). It's the same issue from 3.01.03 (5.14.7), not a new issue.
- VM Intel HD Audio: Works, Audio control working, no traps.
-- But it still produce sounds in a lower volume. I had to rise it to a 100% to be able to hear something in my speakers, it is the same issue as the 3.01.03 (5.14.7).

For me it is working fine I'm keeping it on my VM.

Regards

 Thanks Paul,

Working well here on bare metal and in a VIrtualBox.  I see the same as Martin with VirtualBox using the AC97 driver, plus it will sometimes play back at the wrong speed. No problems here using the HD audio driver though (volume app set to 100%), so I stick with that. I suspect these issues in VirtualBox are VirtualBox's problems. No trouble on bare metal.

Hi Paul,

I tried it on my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2024:

unfortunately no sound. I guess this is because I can not configurate it the right way.

A attach some logfiles here:

- unimix -card    and
- unimx -list

files I created with UNIAUD Config.sys Switch none, 0, 1, 2

Sometimes the Laptop reports to have 2, sometimes 3 audio hardware.

I tried with switch 2 in config.sys, and use the toneein.cmd (here as a toneein.txt) to switch on the options.

Unfortunately no sound, I got a POPUPLOG once.

All files are packed as Zephyrus.zip and attached

Do you have any hints, advice, what else I could check or try?

Thank you very much!

Do you specify which adapter to use on your uniaudio driver ?
e.g.
DEVICE=C:\MMOS2\UNIAUD32.SYS /A:1

Hi Sigurd,

Can you attach a 'testlog uniaud' ?

Cheers

Paul

Unfortunately adapter0 is HDMI which we can't support, and Adapter 1 is reporting "Error: invalid number of PCM instances for adapter 1"

A 'testlog uniaud' with the driver from the debug folder might give more clues.
